Carmelo Anthony is informing those close to him that he will not sign a contract extension if he is traded to the Nets.

Reports according to a "person aware of his preference," Carmelo is telling those close to him he will not sign an extension with the Nets if he's dealt to Jersey.

realgm is saying Melo wont sign an extension with the Nets, so basically, welcome to Denver Gallo, Felton, Chandler, Curry, Randolph, and hopefully, welcome back Chauncey

Greedy bitch, its just a few miles away from NY, and they'll be in Brooklyn soon anyway

          lol

Not him being greedy, it's him not wanting to be part of a little brother franchise.

Will be interesting how this progresses b/c it's somewhat apparent the Nuggets don't want Gallo and prefer Fields and/or Mozgov to him.

Also as for Billups, Chris Tomasson tweeted "Carmelo Anthony had expressed sympathy that Chauncey Billups name was thrown into Nets mix. But wouldn't go that far with Billups and NY." So, if that's to be believed, Billups may be OK if he's sent to NY.

No such meeting, Nets owner denies it and says if they cant get Melo to sign the extension then no deal.

I cant blame the Nuggets for jerking teams around Melo is jerking them around. Well if we cant get a deal then maybe I'll sign the 3 year extension with the Nuggets. Fuck him, he's not worth all this shit like Juggernaut said

Carmelo Anthony met with representatives from the Nets for 45 minutes on Saturday in Los Angeles.

Mikhail Prokhorov, Jay-Z, Nets general manager Billy King and CEO Brett Yormark were present for the meeting.

Anthony was joined by agent Leon Rose and business manager Bay Frazier.

Anthony was noncommittal after hearing the Nets' presentation, not saying whether or not he would sign the three-year, $65 million contract extension that is a prerequisite for the deal.

Anthony will consider joining the Nets and deliver an answer by the end of the weekend.

"The Nets didn't come away very confident," said a source who was briefed on the meeting to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.

just saw it on ESPN. One report says they are not talking then another says they are. they report Melo wants nothing to do with the Nets then this. Now a decision by the end of the weekend.

I'll be glad when its over. Im tired of hearing about it everyday

I'm starting to want Brett Favre to get filmed throwing a football so I can hear about that for 2 weeks instead of this Melo nonsense

Melo wanted no part of the meeting. Nuggets basically had to beg him to hear the Nets out.

This whole thing has been a farce/stall job on Denver's part. It's all about them pulling the trigger right now. I don't think even they know what they want. That's why their demands keep changing.

Dolan needed to stay the fuck out of this. Donnie may be old and crippled, but he knew what the hell he was doing.

Dolan's been the point man since Thursday I believe.

Walsh and D'Antoni don't want to blow up the team.

he doesn't want to come to the nets...despite the team moving to his home spot in brooklyn. He wants to be in the Garden, with the Knicks and their aura.

He will go to the Knicks when this is all said and done...the Nuggets are trying hard for him to go to the Nets because that package helps the Nuggets out so much but he won't sign that extension and the Nets aren't doing the deal.

The Nuggets will reluctantly do the knicks deal, sign melo, and everyone will go on their merry way.

                            Im well aware of that.

If he hadn't been, you likely wouldn't see us swapping Felton for Chauncey in this deal.

The Knicks have no incentive to make this deal whatsoever. The Nuggets need to do this quickly or watch their leverage continue to diminish.

Knicks now in lead for Melo?

As ESPN's Marc Stein and ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard reported, Carmelo Anthony met with the Nets on Saturday and left "noncommittal" on whether he would sign a three-year, $65 million extension with them.

But according to Johnathan Abrams of the New Yorks Times, "Anthony is informing those close to him that he will not sign a contract extension if he is traded to the Nets, according to a person aware of Anthony's preference."

If Anthony indeed won't sign an extension with the Nets, that likely means a trade to New Jersey won't happen.

Which means the Knicks might now be in the lead.

Word from Frank Isola of the New York Daily News is Knicks owner James Dolan is now the one orchestrating the trade for New York's angle -- who is reportedly more in favor of a deal with Denver than GM Donnie Walsh or head coach Mike D'Antoni. Add in the fact that Anthony, by all accounts, wants to be a Knick and sign an extension with them, and it's looking like New York may now be the clubhouse leader for Anthony.
