I think Rondo missing a couple games is what set him back. Also, Rose going off for like 36 points in their head to head matchup might have helped. I don't think you can go wrong with either Rose or Rondo in the starting spot, they're both deserving.
Possibility of 4 Celtics making it in as reserves though, that's pretty cool.
I think Pierce and Rondo are sure to make it in, Ray has a good chance, cause he's having a career year, and Guard in the east kind of drops off after the few elite ones. KG has the most competition I think, with Boozer and Bosh.
No, that's pretty gay. No way Allen should make it over Joe Johnson.
Go ahead and look at Joe's splits after coming back from elbow surgery. He's averaging 26/5/5 since January 1. Scored over 28 points in 8 of his last 13 games, and has topped 30 in 5 of his last 9.
And a huge LOL at giving an all star game appearance to someone for an all time record. This is about who had a better first half, it's not about career achievements. Unless you think Shaq should make the game too?
Bottom line, only a Celtics fan would want Ray Allen in this ASG.
Really? Rose has lead his team to the 3rd best record in the East, while missing Boozer or Noah for majority of the games. He's had to do it with Keith Bogans, possibly the worst starting SG in the NBA. Rose is a star, and is a MVP contender this season.
Sure, Rondo averages better assists numbers, but he also has KG, Pierce and Allen.
I never said I was "giving an all star game appearance" because of an all time record. It's merely just icing on the cake. JJ and Ray have similar numbers, but Ray beats him in efficiency.
Also, you're right, The All Star game isn't about who had a better career... But it's also not about who had a better January. JJ still missed time.
It's not a perfect attendance record. So what if he missed 10 games (two whole weeks of the season) in November? He's better than Allen in every bulk category, and since the surgery his percentages are damn close. I only bring up the January splits because that came after his elbow surgery. His poor shooting percentage was directly a cause of a bum shooting elbow. Kind of relevant to a discussion if someone was playing hurt. He's shooting 38% from 3pt. and 47% from the field since having surgery (which includes the month of December as well). He was playing decent basketball with a bad elbow, but nothing great. Since getting it fixed, he's played arguably the best ball of his career. There is really no debate here. One is leading his team and averaging more points rebounds and assists and the other is a spot up shooter on a loaded team carrying out the twilight of his career. As admirable as Ray Allen is playing, he ain't Joe Johnson.
Joe Johnson > Ray Allen for everyone who isn't a Celtics fan. Why do we need to see four Celtics in the ASG anyway? Because Massholes like Bill Simmons will think it's "neato"?
edit- Allen has played in 8 more games than Johnson this year. Well laddy-fuckin'-dah!
I'll give you the writers who listed him, especially Sekou Smith who is one of the most respected NBA writers out there (former Hawks beat writer too which makes it all the more surprising... though he did name Josh Smith instead), but fan voting? C'mon.

Kevin Love should have made it. Criminal. Anyway, congrats to the Celtics for getting 4 in. Also congrats to Joe and Al, both are deserving. Could make the argument for Josh Smith too but I won't be greedy.
