Henry Hasselbeck isn't quite a one-in-million shot.
More like No. 103 out of 5.9 million.
That's where the 5-year-old son of Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck ranks in his NCAA tournament bracket on ESPN.com after 48 games. That puts Henry in the top 1 percent of all entries. Sister Mallory isn't too shabby, either. She ranks in the top 3 percent.
Just as surprising is how Henry filled in his bracket. He went through game-by-game with Dad, usually deciding the winners based on mascots.
Spiders or Commodores? Henry went with the Spiders, explaining how he forecast Richmond's first-round upset. He liked Washington's Husky dogs over Georgia's Bulldogs in the first round.
The brackets are an annual event for the Hasselbeck family. Usually Matt prints out five copies and keeps score himself.
Last year, first prize was a $20 shopping spree at Target. This year, he opted to enter via ESPN.com.
"We have not watched one full college basketball game, so that's what's even funnier," Matt said.
Given the unpredictability of the tournament, that might actually help.
For the record, Dad didn't fare so well. He's in the bottom half of all entries.
Not as bad as Seahawks teammate Justin Forsett, though. The running back is in the bottom 15 percent.
Henry wasn't perfect. The youngest Hasselbeck was smitten with Indiana State's Sycamores, a first-round loser, and he had Washington in the Elite Eight. But all four of his Final Four teams remain alive.
Those choices were more personal. Duke is where his best friend's mother went to college, and Henry has the Blue Devils in the title game. Kansas is in the Final Four because that's where former Seahawks long snapper J.P. Darche is at medical school, and his boys were wearing Jayhawks paraphernalia when they came to visit.
The Kentucky Wildcats got the nod because that's also the sports mascot name in the "High School Musical" movies.
And Henry picked his title-winner of Florida because, well, he likes alligators.
So does Henry know about all the hubbub surrounding his bracket?
"He's so proud," his Dad said.Comment
