Even if Missouri isn't a top 25 job, they are willing to pay like a top 10 school. Missouri likely won't get Stevens, but they will steal a very good coach from someone.

As for Anderson, he did a great job bringing the Missouri basketball program back from the dark Quinn Snyder days. However, I'm not really disappointed to see him go. Missouri's style of play is incredibly frustrating to watch, IMO. Plus, Anderson has never been able to recruit a big man, which I believe is largely in part to Anderson's style of coaching.

My feelings exactly. I'm not a true basketball fan, but growing up in Columbia gave me a love for the Tigers. I know Quinn Snyder had some very dark days, but I'll say this, when Rush and Paulding were on campus there was nothing as exciting as the basketball team. I love that Anderson has gotten the program to compete, but it is very frustrating to watch.

And Woy, you seem really smart. Thanks for your insight.

I'm really only bashing Missouri by calling them a third-rate program because I hate Taylored. You're good people.

That being said, I still don't think Stevens leaves Butler. You guys should be thinking about other candidates.

i have family in Missouri so ive always cheered for the program from afar and thanks for Travis Ford btw. Im with Woy though, i think when Brad Stevens leaves he will get top 15 money and leave for a top 15 type job.

I dont doubt Mizzou can lure a good coach with the kind of cash they can throw around, i just dont think its Brad Stevens.

If you look at revenue and expenses, Mizzou always does more with less being in the second half of the Big XII in both.

However, they were willing to give Anderson Top 10 type money, so who knows though. Stevens is a kind of guy though, that right now, you throw big time bucks at. He is worth the 2.2 million that Anderson just received. Its absurd that Anderson is already getting as much as Coach K IMO.
The 2.2 number for Coach K is a misnomer, thats purely what the school pays him from what i understand. most coaches salaries include speaking engagements, coaches shows, and things like that. Ratface makes more off of endorsements than any coach in college basketball dont let the 2.2 fool ya.

Arkansas is a much better basketball program historically. When was the last time Missouri made the Final Four, much less won a championship? (I'll answer- never for both.) Arkansas has been to the F4 six times and the E8 ten. It's really not a comparison. Not to mention in a weak SEC West he can come in and have an instant impact.

Arkansas is the only school that MA would have left for. I truely believe that. He will be a Razorback for the rest of his career, unless the Hogs get frustrated.
Because historically Arkansas has a better track record ... It's not about recruiting so much as it is about commitment to a program. Arkansas is a basketball school, Mizzou is a nothing school.

NASTE, man... Missouri is a competitive and up and coming school athletically. Looking at Arkansas the last 15 years tells you nothing about a commitment to the sport. I don't follow your logic? Missouri has had more tournament success than Arkansas since Nolan and I don't think it'll change now. Even in football Mizzou was ranked #1 in the national as recently as 2007. Looking at Mizzou so unfavorably is ignorant at best.

Exactly. Missouri may not be a top 10 school, but saying that Missouri is a nothing school is, well, stupid at best. There are plenty of schools that were great 10, 15, 20 years ago that have completely fallen off the map. School tradition definitely carries some weight in the recruiting process, but who would rather go to a "basketball" school that has been garbage for the last 10 years, over a "nothing" school that has made the tournament each of the last three years?

Mike Anderson wont retire a Hog unless he wins a title, he will get shitcanned just like Heath and Pelphrey within 5 years.

Arkansas sees what Saban did to Alabama football after they were irrelevant for 10 years, Alabama was extremely lucky to get Saban who is a great coach and recruiter. If not for the NFL debacle Saban retires as Nahste's hero and LSU lifer. Its going to be hard to recreate that with Anderson in basketball.

I hope Mizzou strikes quickly and gets a coach before Tennessee does because they are likely going after the same pool of candidates.

Missouri a nothing school? We have lingered around the Top 25 in all sports except baseball recently, and we used to be pretty damn good at baseball as well. Mizzou does this "do more with less" so I dont ever expect a NC, but we will compete in about every sport.
Exactly my point. Arkansas has a rich history in basketball. Meanwhile you point to Missouri having "lingered around the top 25" ... Wow, congrats. Mizzou is a fringe contender in many sports, but what does it really specialize in?

By "nothing school" I meant that that it didn't have one sport to hang its hat on. Did not mean to imply the school was worthless. (After all, they do have a great journalism program.)

                          F this whole story.

Now Mizzou is targeting Matt Painter, which sounds rediculous since Painter is a Purdue alum and former player, but our AD is such a cheap bastard the rumor is picking up steam.

And if it happens Purdue's replacement would've been Cuonzo Martin, another former player but he's the Vols coach now. I think Mizzou was targeting Martin too, so now they'll be even more desperate for Painter.

If Purdue loses Painter, especially if it just comes down to $$$ I think I'm done rooting for this school.

Purdue could make a play for Bruce Weber if Painter leaves for Missouri.

Bruce Weber wouldn't make sense. He already makes more money than Painter so if Purdue won't pay Painter they won't pay Weber either. Plus Painter already sonned dude on some student became the teacher shit.

Purdue would hire some cheap guy like a current assitant, or Indiana State's head coach. They always do, they just happened to get lucky with Painter.
