Let's be honest though, Stern only fined Kobe 100k because:

-He knows Kobe is rich and 100k is nothing.
-He wanted to take the heat off of the league and the NBA.

Stern doesn't care about gays or how they feel, he just doesn't want them fucking up his money with bad press. Don't see why any gay group would accept the 100k when this is obvious. Players aren't gonna stop using words like faggot on the court but the NBA is gonna do a better job making sure they don't get caught.

Also for the people comparing this to the word nigger being used. If Stern started fining people for nigger/nigga half the league would be homeless. Also when players are caught using that word on national TV (like Nate Robinson was with full audio early in the season in one of the Knicks-Celtics games) no one would really care. Mainly because people understand the context and don't overreact trying to make it something it's not. Makes no sense to compare the two situations.

i don't get how donald sterling can go off on mexicans and blacks and openly discriminate against them in his housing/apartments and get a 25k fine while kobe says something that the cameras didn't even pick up in terms of audio and he gets hit with a 100k fine. i'm not a kobe fan, but i think this is ridiculous.

there wasn't this type of outrage when villanueva opened his mouth about garnett calling him a cancer patient and there certainly wasn't a 6 figure fine being assessed in that incident
