I don't see the Knicks picking the $14 million option on Billups just to much money invested in an injury prone veteran.

Some free agents that the Knicks might go after:

SG Jamal Crawford - Still a fan favorite for Knick fans, if he would accept a cheap contract he could be used both as a PG or a SG.

PG T.J. Ford - Kills the Knicks when he play's us could be a solid back up PG or start a few games throughout the season.

PG Earl Boykins - The 5'5" veteran has the skills to keep the ball moving all around the court and could be a good role model to Toney Douglas.

C Shaquille O'Neal - He's injuried now but if he can get healthy this offseason and get in better shape he could be the center piece that they need to win some more games.

C Tyson Chandler - Only way Knicks have a shot at getting Chandler is if he wants to come here and come here cheap great player but will need to fit in under the cap.

C Joel Przybilla - Underrated big man coming off an ACL injury could have a resurgence here in NY.

PF Craig Smith - Not really a true center but a big man that plays big down low underrated could help Amar'e take up some of the bulk down low.
Crawford made $11M this year, and will certainly be asking for at least that much this time around. Not sure your definition of cheap but with his playoff scoring binge he'll be anything but.

What the Knicks need is a true point guard who works well in pick and rolls and gets the ball to our two stars for easier baskets. Too many times late in the year did I see Douglas miss an open man or would run the roll wrong. Knicks did well with felton because he played it extremely well. Billups dosent fit this system.

Yes I think a big man is important but for offense the will clog the lanes to much for our 2 stars and would like to get 1 to play off the bench with toughness. We need toughness from our bench the most. With a true point and we can go a long way.

STEVE NASH. I'd be a gis-gasm on the floor every night. Sarver needs to just trade Nash for the good of everyone.

Nash would definitely be a perfect fit...but everything sounds like Billups is getting picked up.

Even if they didn't...what could the Knicks deal for Nash? Only assets I could see being attractive to another team (in some capacity) would be Fields, Douglas or a draft pick.

The Knicks have decided to pick up the one-year, $14.2 million option on Chauncey Billups' contract, The Daily News has learned

An official announcement on Billups' deal is expected at some point today. Knicks had an option to buy out Billups for approximately $4 mil

Our biggest problem is size. They could take that money and get a couple of 7-footers and a servicable point guard. Typical Knick front office.

According to the NY Daily News, Knicks are pushing Pringles to hire a defensive assistant coach. Fuck that pushing shit, make it an ultimatum.

I'd love to hear D'Antoni's (LMAO @ Pringles) argument against hiring a defensive assistant coach.

Yeah it'd have been a pipe dream even before Billups re-upped because the assets don't match.

...and of course, Zach Randolph and Jamal Crawford are continuing the tradition of players doing better once they leave NY.

Says more of the organization and coaching than of the players.

I guess our latest white knight is Phil Jackson. Who really thinks he won't return anyway?

Odds he returns to the Lakers, not sure. New York would be the perfect setting for him.

Hopefully, it's more than just wishful thinking. D'Antoni's done after this year and Dolan just has to make the call.

I don't see Jackson wanting to coach in NY. He's getting old and may not want to deal with the the media and NY isn't built like the sort of team that he'd want to take over. Stoudemire and Anthony are stars, but they aren't the type of transcendent stars that Jackson tends to find desirable. Jackson tends to get his star guys when they're young, play the Zen mindgames with them, make them more cerebral, thus making them better basketball players.

No way Jackson comes to NY. When you work for Brain-Dead Dolan you also work for Isiah Thomas, who's constantly in Dolan's ear. Why would Big Chief Triangle sign on for that headache?

The Post says if the Knicks target a PG in the first round, it may be one of these guys:

                                PG Charles Jenkins, Hofstra
                                PG Iman Shumpert, Georgia Tech
                                PG Reggie Jackson, Boston College
