Shaq is too high for my tastes.
I've always felt that Olajuwon was the best center I ever saw play. -

I totally agree that Hakeem skill wise and what he could do on the floor was 100 times more talented then Shaq. Still though, he was literally unguardable by 99.9% of the league in the late 90s-early 00s.Comment

I guess when I was watchign Shaq I never got the impression I was watching the 5th best player in NBA History. Granted Shaq's "prime" was during a time when I lost a good amount of interest in the NBA as a whole..so my perception could still be skewed..however...still...Shaq as the 5th best player ever? Damn..
Where's Dell and a Top 10 list when you need him?Comment

Shaq was a beast, even in the mid 90s... he led the Magic as a 22-year old to the NBA Finals. He was the most dominant player for a good number of years absolutely unguardable as a motivated member of championship Lakers teams and cemented his legacy helping to bring a title to Miami.Comment

The way I see the Shaq vs Olajuwon debate is that Olajuwon was the more complete all around player, but Shaq was just so dominant. Shaq's defense wasn't great (not bad though), but his offense made up for it in a big way.Comment
