LOL at it being "smart" to flop

You have former players (Steve Kerr, Mark Jackson, Reggie Miller) constantly co-signing flops and officials calling fouls. If a player flops he should be criticized and the league needs to modify it's rules to discourage that kind of behavior. Just seeing a player flop pisses me off, it's even worse when they're rewarded for it.

What has the league come to? Was it like this back in the 80s?

    This is smart play?

Great thread. I feel the same way. Guys like Kerr and Miller aren't really standing up for "the game", so to speak. But perhaps thats because neither Kerr nor Miller were above "flopping" themselves. Still, there needs to be more public outrage at these playoff flops because the loathsome David Stern is definitely going to do nothing about this.

The NBA officiating is bad enough already, we don't need to add "flopping" to the mix. The first flop by Bosh against Boozer was timed so badly that it shouldn't have been called. The officials need to be alert enough to catch that.

Harden's flop was funny, because if the official truly believed that Chandler elbowed Harden in the head during a dead-ball situation so hard that Harden fell to the ground, then Chandler should have been ejected on the spot.

If flopping became illegal, half of Dwayne Wade's offensive game would disappear.

My favorite flopper is Chris Paul though, he shows up with the most obnoxious ones.

I saw him do the move @ the 17 sec mark during a game once, late in the reg season. Wish I could remember what game it was so I can find the vid.

Manu Ginobli and Anderson Varejao would have to retire if that were the case. That would be welcomed by your's truly.
Finally back after a 3 year hiatus!

                          Based,

Though I partially agree with you, I will honestly state my take on the topic at hand (not so much what you stated above):

If a victory was on the line, and a player on the team I have been burying my heart into for the past 26 years of my life has two options in the last minute of a game (example):

                          A. Flop, Points, Win.
                          B. Defend, No Points, Lose

I will pick A every single time. Like I said, I do agree with your frustrations to an extent, but unless the league changes its rules, that is my take on flopping and I do not enjoy it nor condone it but it is part of the game, hence, I demand it be utilized by my team. (Perhaps I partially enjoy it a little. You know, growing up with Divac and Fisher as a kid.)

When a ball is hit to the outfield and the center fielder makes a spectacular diving catch out in front of him...throws his glove up high and proud, even though he knows the ball hit the grass before bouncing into his glove...is that considered a form of flopping? Curious.

This is the baseball equivalent of flopping
