    Current Players with Coaching Credentials

Which current NBA players can you see becoming an NBA or NCAA coach in the (near) future?

I was rambling to myself in the chatbox that I could eventually see D. Fish becoming a coach. He's always seemed like the leader/coach type.

      WRONG FORUM!

Somewhat unrelated, but how many decent NBA players end up being college head coaches?

I find that NBA players have a lot more respect for a guy with previous playing experience in the league then they do with a guy like Erik Spoelstra, who altho he did play basketball, never made it to the league and got hired real young. These guys are so ego-driven its amazing to me they listen to anyone, nevermind someone who they think has no right to tell them how to play the game of basketball.

The guy is a Canadian who gets asked to help coach The Dream Team every couple years.. he must be doing something right.

Let's see how DeMar and the rest of the young Raptors develop, then I'll make my judgement.

Just because he's a good assistant =/= him a good head coach. I'm not doing much for any Steve Nash argument, though.

Jay is not good for a young team, his x'o and o's are tremendous and hes a tremendous basketball mind, but hes better suited to go to a veteran team where he can lay it out for them and they can make it happen. Player development is not his strong suit. Coaching goes beyond a teams record.

Chauncey Billups is the first that comes to mind.

Allen Iverson would make the most hood coach possible, if he hadn't already disappeared from the face of the earth.

Derek Fisher was a good example of a guy who could make a good coach. The role players seem to be the guys that make good coaches.

I think Shane Battier would make an excellent coach when his career is over. I think he has the intelligence to have a lucrative career outside of sports though.

I know im getting old when half of the head coaches in the league are guys i grew up watching play. That and seeing guys i grew up watching seeing their kids in college and the NBA.

                              Defensive coach much?

Battier is extremely smart and knows basketball so well. He should go back to Duke and be an understudy of Coach K then become one. Sounds like a path to success.
