    ESPN's NBA Player Rankings

ESPN.com and the TrueHoop Network are ranking every NBA player -- and counting them down on Twitter (@NBAonESPN), from No. 500 to No. 1. As the rankings are announced, you can also find them here on the pages of ESPN.com.

We have already announced 401-500 and 351-400, and will count down the rest one at a time, 10 per day, on Twitter, for several weeks.

    What is #NBArank?

#NBArank is the Twitter hashtag to use if you want to get involved in the discussion or just follow along.

You can also follow along here: @NBAonESPN

How did we rank the players?

We asked 91 experts to rate each player on a 0-to-10 scale, in terms of "the current quality of each player."

Here is the full list of voters from ESPN.com, the TrueHoop Network, TrueHoop TV, Daily Dime Live, ESPN TV, ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes, espnW, ESPN The Magazine, ESPN Insider, ESPN Fantasy, ESPN Games, ESPN Dallas, ESPN Los Angeles, ESPN Chicago, ESPN New York, ESPN Stats & Information, ESPN Topics and ESPN Analytics.

To decide which players to rank, we started with every player who played in the league last season, and then eliminated players who had signed overseas contracts that made them ineligible for the 2011-12 NBA season. Then we added the 60 members of the 2011 draft class, eliminating those not likely to play in the NBA by 2012. That left 500 players, according to our best information as of August 15.

    Schedule

    • Tuesday, August 23: Players 341 to 350 announced
    • Wednesday, August 24: Players 331 to 340 announced
    • Thursday, August 25: Players 321 to 330 announced
    • Friday, August 26: Players 311 to 320 announced
    • Monday, August 29: Players 301 to 310 announced

Discuss and lol and bitch about their rankings so far. Hopefully even the shitty players so far are enough for some discussion, I'm going to make stupid arguments to make sure of it.

    My early observations:

At least Jerel McNeal made the top 500 despite not having played in a single NBA game. Hopefully someday that will change.

Surprisingly I don't really have any disagreements with 350-500, they are all pretty mediocre and no one seemingly deserves to be higher with the exception of rookies that haven't been able to show anything.

In 331-350 though there are some really shitty players that should be lower. Luke Harangody and Charlie Bell stand out for me. Jon Brockman is one of the worst NBA players I have seen and should be much, much lower.

Wonder how Lavoy Allen felt when he read the list.

How the hell can they rank rookies who've never even had an NBA training camp yet?

I'd take an inexperienced Markieff or Marcus Morris over almost all of the bigs in front of them, especially the 80 year old Juwan Howard..
