        Don't understand the "angst" of this discussion. Pippen was the best 1-on-1 defender of his generation who has rings and a huge repository of historical defensive stops. Durant is a great offensive player who has only been visible in the NBA for a couple years.

          I've only seen Durant play in the playoffs. Two years ago, he looked overmatched to me. His performance DEFINITELY didn't reflect a historic "win share" season.

          Last year, Durant looked good. Great scorer, but only dominant in flashes.

            I'd lean towards Durant. Pippen has amazing defense, but I don't think his offense would be good enough to outpace Durant's. Durant is such a good scorer that it'd be near impossible to shut him out. He's eventually going to get his regardless of who's in front of him - and under make it-take it rules it tip the scales further his way.
