There's a Mexican Herman Cain running around?

True. D'Antoni will finally give him the offensive freedom he was never afforded at Golden State or his previous stint with D'Antoni's Knicks. Whole new player!

That's what I was thinking wasn't he there for D'Antoni's first year?

Granted, they barely played D'Antoni style then but honestly with Melo they still can't really run it.

41% of their shot attempts were in the first 10 seconds of the possession last year.
            37% in 09-10
            45% in 08-09

            In Phoenix:

            43% 07-08
            43% 06-07
            44% 05-06

It doesn't seem like a huge variance but those extra percentages are a lot of possessions and a lot of points. I suspect that number goes down even more with more Melo possessions who is around 39% in 0-10 for shot attempts.

Only 11 games, after which he was traded to Golden State. But surely we've never seen him in a scoring-friendly system so if he signs with the Knicks again it will be an instant explosion of awesomeness.

Hey, they're a rebuilding team. Obviously they could use a guy with bum knees who half the league wouldn't touch for fear of full-on Tracy McGrady syndrome. That they could have had years ago, but passed for a middling combo guard (so hard to find in the NBA), which made them miss out on his good years.

I can't help but wonder what the Timberwolves franchise would be like if they never drafted Kevin Garnett. I mean, outside of him and Kevin Love, their best move was getting Stephon Marbury. Thats just sad. My advice: avoid guys who are looking at short NBA careers and just draft all the guys who come out named Kevin. They already missed out on Kevin Martin and Kevin Durant....

Not necessarily a rumor, but I'd be shocked to not see Gilbert get the amnesty clause.

He wanted an outside medical examination, China said that is not prohibited you must go with a the teams medical examination. His knee is fine, but team GM is not happy with what is going on. Not a good start to his season over seas.

Players in China end their season in March.
JR Smith is in the best situation of all those guys because it seems the Chinese team dont want his ass no more, and may actually release him, allowing him to come back to the states. Martin, Chandler, JR, they all knew what they were getting themselves into lol.. just gotta swallow it for a year. Bonzi Wells had fun over there.

Yeah but nobody cares about Bonzi's crazy ass, people will actually miss Bad Ass Yellow Boy and Wilson Chandler.

I'm just hoping the Pacers don't blow the FA cap space they have (for the first time in years) on mediocre players like Jamaal Crawford and Glen Davis.

The problem with a team like Indiana though, is any decent FA ever going to go there?

The amnesty clause despite a lot of really awful NBA contracts probably won't be used that much. The only guys that likely get cut are Rip Hamilton (2 years, way too much money on contract), Travis Outlaw, Mike Miller and Brandon Roy type contracts. If a guy is expiring next year you may as well hold onto him, it's just those mediocre/long contract guys as opposed to some of the albatross deals (Ron Artest).
