That's really unfortunate. Roy was well on his way into becoming an elite player throughout his career..

Such a shame. He played so well late in the season, despite the lack of PT. I thought he'd be able to make it for a few seasons.

Its crazy that the cornerstones of Portland's future were tied into Oden and Roy........had those two been healthy this team would probably be considered one of the elite teams in the west now and for the foreseeable future.

                  It's their own fault.

Roy got passed on cause of his knees, Portland took him anyway.

LMA got pass on cause of his heart, Portland took him anyway. Has worked out though.

Oden didn't have any big injury concerns but he is a 7 footer so health is always gonna be a question.

They took a bunch of risks and got bruned.

Was Aldridge really "passed on". He was taken 2nd overall.

I figured he was passed on by Toronto because he wasn't foreign if anything.

As Brandon Roy contemplates retiring from basketball, an ominous quote emerged via Joe Freeman on Twitter.
A source said that Roy met with doctors on Thursday and was told after his knee evaluation: "You can't do this. You might end up not walking." Roy is said to be very emotional and it's doubtful he'll meet with the media today. It sounds like his career is over, although we're still awaiting for it to become official. Another sad story in a generally sad day as training camps open and free agency starts.

How many games did Roy and Oden end up playing together?

In 2008-09 they played 729 minutes together.
