It's totally a combination of desire and skills. I'm not saying Boozer is good at defense, he's fucking awful.
I just don't see how Korver is "trying really hard", all that matters to me is he still has shitty footwork and sucks at defense. Nobody can really point to anything to show how he's trying hard.
At the end of the day it's really just a nitpicky argument by me to try and get to the general point that they both suck at defense.Comment

I see both as not caring. Defense is about effort. These guys are in the NBA and while athleticism varies Korver still should be able to get in position to prevent Mike Miller from scoring. I can see if it was Wade or LeBron James, but its Mike Miller....he isn't exactly beating people with speed and explosion.Comment

I need to quit discussing this on my lunch though.
The thought of either of them playing defense makes me sick.Comment

It really is maddening. It's one of the simplest parts of the game you can control. Rebound is to an extent but defense you really can excel at by doing a lot of the little things.Comment

You know who else is making a ton of money?
Joakim NOAH!
Then again he's been playing well lately... hopefully we can trade him while his value is high.Comment

Meh, I dislike Noah but not sure I want him gone badly enough to take on Ellis' deal.............
Also, not sure how serious the Bulls are in looking at Dwight but I doubt they would make a move involving Noah until they know for sure D12 is off the table to them.Comment

I'd love them to be honestly. Ellis can create his own shot, can catch and shoot and lets the Bulls run a lot more. Their frontcourt depth takes a hit but with Hamilton "out for awhile" I'd be down.
The issue is a) you can't trade Noah until March b) as FT said if it's the potential of a Dwight Howard trade with Noah as a potential centerpiece that might keep the Bulls from doing it.
Then again, I like the idea of a Monta Ellis adding another piece but Howard is a superstar. I don't know...Comment

Monta woul dbe nice but something about a 26 year old chucker who already had a knee torn up and has 22 million left on his deal scares me...but..it's not 60 million for a grindy center so I guess I'd do it assuming a Howard deal is for sure dead/has no shot at happening.
*NVM about the knee thing..I think..Could have sworn Monta had torn his ACL at some point. Maybe I somehow confuse him with Baron Davis from years ago when Davis had knee issuesComment

Because of his NEW deal (!!!) I don't think Noah can be traded at all until March.
Base year compensation
Certain players in the first few months of a new contract are subject to base year compensation (BYC). The intent of BYC is to prevent teams from re-signing players to salaries specifically targeted to match other salaries in a trade (in other words, salary should be based on basketball value, not trade value). A BYC player's trade value as outgoing salary is 50% of his new salary, or his previous salary, whichever is greater. BYC applies only to players who re-sign with their previous team and receive a raise greater than 20%. It also applies only when (and as long as) the team is over the salary cap. Under the 2011 CBA, players subject to BYC cannot be traded before January 15 except in a sign-and-trade, and BYC is only applied to outgoing salary in sign-and-trade deals.Comment

So I guess if Orlando resigns Howard and does the trade as a sign and trade it could work. Otherwise it wouldn't.Comment
