Bulls Should Thank Minnesota Now for Nikola Mirotic

    The next Dirk..

SAN FRANCISCO --- Nikola Mirotic, whose rights the Chicago Bulls acquired on draft night, has earned most valuable player honors for December in the prestigious Euroleague.

Mirotic averaged 18.5 points and 6.8 rebounds, posted his first career double-double and helped lead Real Madrid to a 4-0 mark with wins over three other top-16 teams.

According to the league's official release, December "may go down as the month Mirotic completed his upgrade from prominent role player to a bonafide ace."

The Bulls are extremely high on the sharpshooting big man, who likely will remain in Europe for two to three more seasons. The Bulls acquired Mirotic from the Timberwolves, who drafted him 23rd, in exchange for picks Nos. 28, 43 and cash.

Mirotic is on a five-year deal with a costly buyout of roughly 2 million Euros that the Bulls will eventually have to negotiate his release from with Real Madrid. Bulls international scout Ivica Dukan has a longstanding relationship with Real Madrid officials.

I wouldn't(edit) be shocked to see him next season. Especially as strapped as the Bulls will be with contracts they currently have they won't be going after very many free agents in the next year or two IMO so the $2 million buy out from Real Madrid would be a financially feasible option for them.

Two years would be the most he'll stay over there.

As long as he doesn't turn into another Fran Vasquez you're good.

Basically. Before the draft he told everyone that he was ready to come over and after Orlando drafted him he decides to change his mind. Since then he's just played out his contract and recently signed a 1-year deal. Orlando hopes he'll come over next year.
