    Kings part ways with Gooden

"Drew Gooden's Sacramento stay is over.

The forward acquired Feb. 18 in a six-player trade with Chicago agreed to a buyout from the Kings and was waived Sunday night. The move was yet another financially motivated decision by the Kings, who are believed to have saved $2 million while allowing Gooden to possibly join a playoff contender.

For a player to be eligible for a playoff roster, he had to be waived by 9 p.m. PST Sunday. According to Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie, the negotiations nearly went down to the wire.

"It's something going forward that we think made sense for us given where we are, and it made sense for him," said Petrie, who confirmed the deal at 8:11 p.m. after The Bee first reported it. "It got done about 25 minutes ago."

Gooden has an expiring contract and was owed $7.1 million this season and wanted to be in a more ideal setting for free agency. The Kings, meanwhile, seem determined to let rookie forward Jason Thompson grow in his starting role."

Averge? When he gets PT he can really play.

The 2015-16 NBA season stats per game for Drew Gooden of the Washington Wizards on ESPN. Includes full stats, per opponent, for regular and postseason.

I have had the guy on my fantasy team all season. Easily can put up a double double on any given night he's just been most of the season. Now don't get me wrong because Joe is good too (had him on my fantasy team last year he was great) but I think goodens better.

Lol guys with legitimate potential to average a double-double arent bums. He has injury concerns and inconsistency issues, but Gooden is a solid rebounder and far from a liability on offense. Definitely not a bum. Not lived up to his draft hype tho.

Hell, put Joe Smith there hed be averaging 20 points a game. Please, 13 ppg on the Kings, thats about as average as it gets. He did the same numbers on decent teams, he cant even step it up when the team has no one?

i mean, ill give him above average, because he gets like 12 ppg per his career or whatever and he hustles, but hes not a good technical player at all and is a mess out there on the court.
I agree that Gooden is nothing special at all and his numbers are a result of being one of Chicago's only inside threats, but all of those games were with the Bulls not the Kings

                        Gooden's above average.

                        Career PPG = 12.1 in 28 minutes
                        Career RPG = 8.0 in 28 minutes

                        48 minute totals = 20 ppg/13.7 rpg

David Wests' 48 minute totals this year = 25.5 ppg/9.97 rpg
                        Chris Bosh's 48 minute totals = 28.3 ppg/12 rppg

                        He's a very efficient player.
