I typically enjoyed going to Hawks games at Philips Arena, but they were $10 a ticket. Only annoyance was that you'd share your entire section with AAU teams, Boys and Girls club kids, and whoever else got free tickets from their school for having perfect attendance in that month.

I went to a game at Madison Square Garden two years ago when I first moved and it was pretty affordable, but this season I am going to try to go on February 22nd when the Hawks are in town and it might cost as much as a plane ticket to Atlanta would. The "mystique" of MSG is definitely not a myth though, you feel the coolness factor as soon as you walk in.

Fewer seats. More seats that are closer to the floor. Don't have an entire mid level dedicated to mezzanine luxury boxes. The United Center has all the bad elements for a sterile atmosphere. Too many bad seats. Too many seats. Stadium has a very gradual rise, meaning the seats towards the back are miles away from the action. You have an entire level of luxury boxes near the floor that remain empty most of the time.

Less seats equal less money though.

Living a few hours away from a pro team, it's hard for me to buy tickets to Bulls and Blackhawk games because of the possibility of snow.

One of the few reasons I love having the Wizards suck is the tickets are dirt cheap no matter who they're facing. I got $7 tickets to the Wizards vs Heat game last year. I wish I wasn't as busy this year so I could go to some games

Had free tickets to the Pacers for a season I think two seasons ago. Was incredibly boring. Best thing I saw was some guy on a bicycle crash during a halftime show

You're all lucky. Only hoops game I've ever been to was the Big Country era Grizzlies vs the Allan Houston led Knicks

I was a Sonics fan, so always wanted to get to Key. By the time I got the money to do so, they moved

Sixers lower level tickets on stubhub are like 13 dollars. Me and my friend went to one game last year, the stadium was mostly empty so we sat front row behind the Bobcats bench. Games themselves are pretty boring becuase no one shows up. Watching basketball in a silent arena just isn't my cup of tea, I rather just watch at home with my friends.

I love NBA games in person. I've only been in the lower sections a few times, but each time was remarkable to me. Like ralaw I'm mostly fascinated with the size/speed of the players.

But I pay 35$ for an upperdeck seat about once a month and catch a game.

I've been to about 6 Nets games back when they played at Continential Airlines Arena (Izod Center), two Knicks games at MSG, and a Heat game at American Airlines Arena.

The Izod Center is HORRIBLE. Easily my worst pro sports experience, I even got to play a pick-up game on the court back in 6th grade and it was still meh.

Madison Square Garden, on the other hand, is awesome. I haven't been there in a few years and I'm dying to get back. Like NAHSTE said, it just has that mystique you can't describe.

American Airlines was cool, nice facility and good atmosphere. The game I went to (Heat/Lakers last season) was one of the biggest regular season games of the year though so it was a great time.

I refuse to sit in the 300 levels at an NBA game. Did it once, never again.

The atmostphere at Bucks games is usually pretty solid mainly thanks to Squad 6, and it's pretty easy to find deals for tickets less than $15.

Obviously it pales in comparison to Marquette games but I guess for a little bit more than a movie ticket I always feel it was worth it.

Last season I got these tickets for free for filling out a survey:

I've been to countless Nets games at the old Brendan Byrne/Meadowlands/IZOD whatever arena.

Call me cantankerous old guy if you want, but i'm with Senser. I preferred NBA games before the Stern Entertainment Initiative, which is highlighted by blaring hip hop music in your ears during every single second that play is stopped.

With that said, I greatly prefer live basketball to TV basketball. I go to all of the Texas A&M games that my schedule allows. I used to have free season tickets through my company, which was awesome because everyone would fight over the football tickets and I would grab all of the hoops, but I don't work for them anymore. Even so, the price range is like $8-$25, so it's still super cheap entertainment.

I'm going to Staples Center today to watch the Lakers and Mavs.

UPDATE: Of course it's the most boring game ever. The Lakers only scored 7 points in the 4th quarter. It was incredible to think that in the last 3 years no teams other than the two I was watching were the ones to win the Finals. At least I got to see Fisher hit a game winning 3pt shot over Dirk. Lamar Odom's standing ovation was pretty cool, too.

i live in montana the closest i come to seeing professional basketball is if the harlem globetrotters come to town

i have gone and seen the u of m men's team play a few times and it isn't to bad of a place to watch a game, doesn't hurt they aren't the worst team in the world.

the football games on the other hand, outside of there being about 60-70,000 less fans, i'd say is up there with any fbs school for atmosphere, just a fucking blast.

i'm the pa announcer for the minor league baseball team (white sox's farm team) [2 championships in 3 years]) and the minor league hockey team (1 win this year haha) that play here so i go to everyone of those games, which those two sports are of course infinitely better live than on tv. doesn't hurt that i am sitting in the best seats in the house and get paid to watch the games as well.
