Since my NCAA Basketball thread got locked and I know you're all dying for updates on VSN's favorite team, I decided to create my own thread to give you what you need and GENERATE MORE ACTIVITY.
Right now we are 10-4 in the NEC and 19-8 overall. The 10-4 record is good enough for fourth in the conference as us, LIU, Wagner and St. Francis (NY) have all been the class of the league this season. I believe our squad has the most talent out of all the teams, but they lose focus easily at the worst possible times and don't defend the three well at all.
The team also misses Karon Abraham, who is suspended for the entire season. Coron Williams might be just as good of a shooter as him, but besides leading scorer Velton Jones at times, no one can create their own shot consistently on this team. Coron's a very good catch and shoot threat, but not so much off the dribble.
The Colonials got back to their winning ways last night with a 70-56 win over St. Francis (PA). Even though there were some lapses, this was the most complete effort RMU has had since the LIU win. Four players were in double-digits with Williams' 18 leading the way. Russell Johnson added a nice 10-8-3-3-2 statline off the bench. It was an encouraging performance for the red-shirt junior who has missed time with a broken nose (two others, including Jones right now have suffered the same injury), sprained ankle and broken thumb.
Four games remain (vs. Bryant, vs. CCSU, @ Sacred Heart, @ Quinnipiac) before the NEC Tournament.
Big Wins: @ LaSalle (51-44), @ Ohio (70-67), vs. LIU (75-66)
