    30 for 30: The Announcement

    Anyone watch this last night?

Pretty interesting show. Magic and the producers were pretty kind to everyone but Karl Malone in regards to who had a problem playing with Magic after he got HIV.

Also, did the maker of the film realyl say the struggle against the virus is over? :joeybats: Or did he say it isn't over and it was garbled? I rewound a couple times and couldn't tell.

I watched it, it was cool seeing what happened behind the scenes leading up to the announcement. I was in elemetary school at the time, but I do remember when this happened. AIDS was a huge issue back, but most thought it was a homosexual disease only.....looking back you really can't blame people for their ignorance, but it is pretty sad what most thought about the disease at the time.

I kept waiting for them to bring up Zeke and blast him a bit...but...nope. Only Malone got brought up really.

They did have that part at the end for Malone where he actually praised Johnson. So they pretty much showed both sides to Malone. I don't think they said it was over because they did list all those facts at the end. I like when they tell you at the end what happened to the other people, like the child Johnson was with on the show or that ladies son.

          ...........

The director said something like it during one of those "breaks" where they interview him about the piece.

it is essentially over, the virus isnt even detectable in his blood anymore.

then again, magic has the money for the best doctors and medications in the world, so he can pull that off

africans who have to walk 10 miles to the nearest hospital, have never even seen a car unless its driven by a local militia with machine guns shooting at them because of their tribal affiliation, not so much.

                :joeybats:

Everything of what you said here is false. In fact, the show covered the above.

                Stop.

it's funny cause my wife had never seen philadelphia so we watched it the other night while flipping through netflix, and my god, that movie is dated as shit when it comes to how people treat homosexuals and aids.
