John Wall has the problem of being on a team with almost no support in a city where people really don't care about the team. If he was in a bigger market with a real team around him, he would never be considered a bust.

In all honesty, Wall reminds me of Rod Strickland...who was a good player, but not really an all-star.

Ralaw said it best. The Wizards are a joke of a frachise. Surround this kid with quality talent, coach him up and see what happens.

People in DC were stoked about getting Wall when he got drafted, that's all they talked about for the longest time. It's like any other city with a bad team, no one is gonna spend their money to watch a shitty team lose every night.

              Definitely not a bust.

If Wall had a guy like Kevin Durant to play with, he would be...well...Russell Westbrook.

I received a PM saying that you were a terrible poster. What gives?

Great fucking insight. That's the whole point here. Wall was a #1 overall pick, so he shouldn't need someone like Durant to make him a good player. He should be the Durant of the Wizards so to speak since he was taken first in the draft.

He may not be a bust but he's no Iverson................Neither are any of these other little guys. Iverson would eat Rose for lunch too in his prime.

Wall being the #1 pick doesn't have to equate to him being a top 5 player in the league. Currently Wall is a good player and has had a good start to his career. Obviously he has some holes in his game, but he's still a good player. Wall is the best player on a bad team and has been since he was drafted. As I said earlier his game is more suited for being a facilitator to a good post player or wing scorer. For the most part teams led by 6'3 and below guards don't dominate the league without help. Westbrook and Rose have a lot of help from playing for solid/good organizations, coaches and teammates. Wall is basically on an island.

Not a bust, but he's hardly a franchise changing superstar.

See this is what I'm wondering. Shouldn't a #1 overall draftpick be a "franchise changing superstar"? And if he's not should he be considered a bust?

I'm just arguing for the sake of arguing but I've always wondered how loosely people use the term bust.

I'm sure a team expects a #1 pick to be a "franchise changing superstar," but in reality they always won't. At the minimum I'd suspect a team would want them to be a contributing member that is above average, which Wall is. IMO a busts is someone who flames out of the league and typically is a one contract type of player or someone who is marginal at best. John Wall is far from being a bust. He's a career 16/8/5 guy....considering who he's played with that is pretty good. A #1 pick doesn't have to be LeBron James.

I always laughed when i watched sportscenter and they were thrilled that Iverson was scoring 35 pts but it was on 9/37 shooting.

He was not a great shooter but these new guys are not close to his level for an all around franchise player. He was unstoppable and a great passer and stealer. Wall is like the SAVE ALOT version of iverson and still not that good.
