This morning Mike and Mike discussed who has had the greatest sports career and part of the requirement was you had to be accomplished in three areas at least. They used college, pro, coaching, exec, owner.

His exec career is still young but he has another Stanley Cup and a Gold Medal to his name in that department.
I'd go with Mario Lemieux. 562 points in 200 games of junior (!!!), 2 cups, 3 Hart Trophies, 2 Conn Smythes and a gold medal as a pro, and a cup as an owner.

          Forgot he was an owner.

            Guys, nobody cares about hockey.
So, metaphorically speaking, our physiology basically has the universe mapped out and you're thinking it needs to be taught addition & subtraction.

But Bob Hayes' accomplishments are in two different sports...football and track. I think the idea was to see who excelled in the most different areas in one sport.

Just an interesting tidbit, Jim Thorpe was actually the first commissioner of the NFL, so he could qualify.

Fair enough, I was just looking at it in a different light I guess. But based on what you said, Jim Thorpe would still be in the running.

I heard part of that show, too. Interesting stuff. A name I haven't heard mentioned from baseball is Bill White. I know he never managed but he does have three phases. He was an all star first baseman, respected as one of the best defensive players of his era at the position (won 7 gold gloves). He then had a long career as a broadcaster and was well respected in that area. Finally, he served as National League President.
