Detroit Trades Gordon & Future 1st to Charlotte

    From Wojo...

"@WojYahooNBA: Detroit has traded Ben Gordon and a protected future first-round pick to Charlotte for Corey Maggette, league sources tell Y! Sports."
DET saves $15 mil from moving Gordon. The pick is a lottery protected 2013 first rounder.

Now let's get rid of Villaneuva. Still not sure why we resigned Tayshaun for as much as we did. I love the guy and all, but he's not worth $21 mil. Getting out of this cap hell is the only way Detroit can "start" over.

Gordon immediately becomes the best offensive player Charlotte has as sad at that is. He has 2 years left and him and Tyrus Thomas are the only two player under contract guaranteed for them in 2013-14 so it's not like it really hurts their cap situation. Other than Kemba and Biyombo there can't really be anyone they want to extend anyways.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really see this as that bad of a trade for us.

We swapped mediocre players with bad contracts (granted Gordon has a player option for 1yr longer), added a 3PT shooter that we desperately need, and got a first round pick out of the deal, assuming Detroit makes the playoffs next year.

Even if they don't make it which is pretty likely, the pick is lotto protected in 2013, top-eight in 2014, top-one in 2015 and unprotected in 2016, so down the road it will work out well.

This probably means Charlotte isn't looking to draft Beal..

There is a ton of talk now that Charlotte is looking to move out of 2 completely, probably for the team most wanting to overpay and fuck Washington out of Beal.

I don't think they'll draft the obvious good players...MKG and Beal...I think it'll be Robinson for some reason.
