Update: Nets and Hawks Agree in Principle to Joe Johnson Trade
The Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks are engaged in ongoing talks on a multiplayer deal that would send several expiring contracts to the Atlanta Hawks for All-Star guard Joe Johnson, according to sources briefed on the discussions.
Nets worried they'd give up too much cap flexibility with a move. Plus, the Hawks insist Marshon Brooks is in the deal while Brooklyn would only consider a deal if they know for a fact Deron is staying.
Marc Stein and Chad Ford say the latest proposal was:
Nets Trade: Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Anthony Morrow, Jordan Williams (all expiring deals)
Hawks Trade: Joe Johnson
However, the Nets would prefer to keep one or two of the expiring deals and put one of their FA's in via sign and trade (Gerald Green or Kris Humphries).

Lawd you'd think the Hawks would want SOME kind of talent in return. What an awful haul despite dumping that asinine contract.

Throw in Gerald Wallace, Marshon Brooks, and Tyshawn Taylor...not too bad. Need a backup PG, some some front court depth, namely at the PF position, and you'll be alright.
Is it even possible for the Nets to bring in Johnson and Howard? The Magic would have to move one of their shitty contracts with Howard and the Nets wouldn't be able to bring on another terrible contract if they give Deron a max deal and bring in Johnson.
If Billy King can pull it all off somehow, Isiah Thomas and James Dolan can go fuck in a closet somewhere.

I'm almost positive financially it wouldn't work barring a sign and trade with Orlando for Dwight and a shit ton of luxury tax payout.
Brousard was just on ESPN radio saying that if the Nets pull this trade off they more than likely they wouldn't be able to afford Howard. He said that they are annoyed by Howard's flipflopping and they were basically pissed off when he decide to opt-in, because it only complicated something that could have been as simple as him just signing with the Nets.
LOL at New Jersey thinking teaming Williams with Joe Johnson would amount to anything. I like JOhnson, but IMO his skills don't mix well with Deron Williams. I also don't understand why New Jersey would want that contract. I'd rather want a flipflopping Howard than an overpaid role player who is paid like a superstar.

The money would work, but they'd be filling the roster with some barebones contracts...Williams and Howard would have to take a little paycut.
James/Bosh/Wade took a paycut to keep Haslem and Anthony and to sign Mike Miller...
To make a roster, the Nets would need DW and DH to take hits, too, otherwise, Tyshawn Taylor is starting at the 4. lololol
