    Celtics, Terry close to deal

Celtics getting ready for life without Allen.

Free-agent guard Jason Terry is closing in on a three-year contract with the Boston Celtics, sources close to the situation confirmed Tuesday. Terry's offer from the Celtics is believed to be for the full mid-level exception of $5 million annually.

He'll make a fine sixth man for us. If Melo and Sullinger can pan out this team looks primed for another run. No one gave the Heat more trouble than Boston last season.

The Celtics are adding good depth this off season and when you add he return of Jeff Green this team looks to have another title run. Hopefully KG doesn't have too much of a decline, but I expect his minutes to go down a lot ala Tim Duncan.

Green should be able to fill Brandon Bass' role as a knockdown mid-range shooter. Sullinger and Melo will be counted on to hold down the fort when KG has to sit. If Stiemmsma comes back we should be able to rest Garnett enough to have him fresh for the postseason.

Whatever the case, I'm all for any front court rotation that doesn't include Ryan Hollins.

IMO at the right price Boston has to get Bass back, but I wouldn't over pay. I really liked the way he played and fits in with the Celts.

Oh I totally agree but I'm pretty much resigned to the fact someone is going to overpay him after the way he showed up in the postseason.

Not so much. They still want, and are pretty likely, to retain Allen as well.

I'm going to miss JET, Boston should be a great fit for him.

If they keep Ray Allen then Jet off of the bench is going to come up huge. Not to mention they're more than likely going to sign Jeff Green. Boston could be looking at a better team than this past season.
