I'm not a Kobe fan by any stretch but he was averaging like 22/6 and 28/6 on some of those first Lakers titles. That's not a role player.

You could maybe argue the first one where Kobe was a 20/4/4 player in the playoffs that he wasn't true superstar in the league yet, but definitely not a role player. He was definitely emerging at the time and became a superstar in the years to come.

True but these guys are acting as if he was the man on those teams.

LeBron wins a championship, people still bitch constantly. Kobe didn't think one was enough because Shaq fed it to him in the motion of a swirling airplane.

Too bad Lebron doesn't have the luxury of having Phil Jackson as his coach.

Would Kobe be saying all this if the Hornets had kept him?

That was never a possibility, Hornets agreed to trade the pick to LA before the draft and LA only told them to draft Kobe right before Charlotte were on the clock.

"The deal was actually done a day ahead of time, and it was Vlade for a player to be named," said Bill Branch, the Hornets' head scout at the time who still operates out of Charlotte as a scout for the Seattle-now-Oklahoma City Sonics. "If I remember right, they didn't even tell us who they wanted us to pick until about five minutes before the pick was made. So it was never a matter of us actually drafting Kobe."

Would Jordan have 6 NBA championships if he played baseball?

Your logic is poor. In sports players are judged based in reality.

                            Kobe's Very talkative this week

                            On Kevin Durant

"But then again, I wasn't playing on the Olympic team with, you know, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce and Garnett," Bryant said. "He's got to look at LeBron every day. I didn't have to do that. So I don't know if I could do that. I'd probably be trying to destroy him every single day in practice to try to, I don't know, take a little of the edge off maybe."

James and Durant are actually friends, James inviting Durant to work out with him last summer in Ohio. That wouldn't make much difference to Bryant, one of the NBA's fiercest competitors.

"Being the friends thing, I mean that's fine," Bryant said. "Once you start playing, I'd really have to go after him. There's just no way."

                            On the Original Dream Team

"It'd be a tough one, but I think we'd pull it out,"

Well c'mon minutes after he won the ring people were saying "YEAH BUT DAT JORDAN HAS 6!!"

Because of course good players can't be good players on their own they must constantly be compared to players of the past.
