    Darren Collison Traded to Mavericks

    Rotoworld

The Pacers have agreed to trade PG Darren Collison and SG Dahntay Jones to the Mavericks for C Ian Mahinmi in a sign-and-trade deal.

Mahinmi gets $16 million over four years, the Mavericks get a starting point guard, and the Pacers clear up a logjam at the position, although we're not sure why they just gave Collison away. Collison should be a good fit in Dallas, while George Hill is now the starting PG in Indy, with Lance Stephenson set to get a much bigger role this season. In an update, the Pacers are now said to be trying to sign-and-trade for D.J. Augustin, which would send Hill back to a bench role, if it happens.

lolwut. Mahinmi gets $16 million over four years

wait, so the pacers traded collison to "free up space to allow George Hill to start"...but are pursuing a trade for DJ Augstine which means Hill would be back on the bench.

      Im lost.

If they get Augustin Hill would start over him, and they can probably play together at times. Mahinmi is a more than capable backup center that's gotten better every year and $4 mil. a year is a really fair price for him. Collison is expiring and probably not satisfied coming off the bench, I'm guessing the Pacers had no plans to retain him.

Man, they're going to miss Collison. At times against the Heat he was the only one doing anything. Dallas just got extremelly better at the point.

                  D. Jones could have a similar "starter" role like Deshawn Stevenson had for the Mavs. Start the 1st and 3rd quarter strictly for defense and the ability to knock down the open trey. If he does that, he'll be golden. Im excited to have Collison aboard, too bad Kidd is gone to have him for a mentor though. I expect Cuban to make a couple more moves before the season to somewhat rebound from a disaster of an offseason. 2 of more role players and we might have ourselves an 8th seed..
