    Amare for Pau Gasol? *Rumor*

The rumor around town is that the Lakers are actively looking to trade Pau Gasol to the Knicks for Amare Stoudemire

This isn't the first time Pau Gasol has been at the center of trade rumors in Los Angeles. The Big Llama has known his time in LA is questionable at best for over a year now. First, it was Gasol leaving LA as part of the trade that was going to bring Chris Paul to the Lakers, but that got vetoed by David Stern. Next, it was the non-stop trade rumors throughout the off-season reportedly due to his soft play in the playoffs last season. This time it is a trade between the Laker big man and the New York Knicks' power forward Amare Stoudemire.
Gasol is set to earn $38.3 million over the next 2 seasons, an amount far ahead of his current production. Yet, Stoudemire will be earning $60 million over the next 3 years which is also far ahead of his current ability to produce on the court. Whoever ends up with Stoudemire would have more money on the table, but both teams would be only debatably improved. The question is which aging big man is worth it. Both are having significant injury issues this season and having trouble fitting in with their respected offenses.
The Knicks are statistically better when Stoudemire is out of the game. New York has a record of 23-9 when Stoudemire doesn't play and a record of 23-29 when he is in the game. It is easy to see how New York would be motivated to find a player that fits with Carmelo Anthony better than Stoudemire. No matter what you think of Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks win more games when the offense flows through him.
It would appear this trade would benefit the Knicks more than the Lakers, but LA may be desperate enough to throw more money at a season going down the drain. Unfortunately, acquiring Stoudemire will do little to help the Lakers win and simply add another big name and up-tempo style player not built to how Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant play ball.

I dont think this would really happen.. I dont think it would work out for the Lakers besides him and nash had good years together..

The Knicks would be better off with Pau Gasol..

Great move for the Knicks, but absolutely horrible idea for the Lakers. Stoudemire isn't the player he once was and surely isnt' anywhere near worth that horrible contract. I'd rather see the Lakers offense go through Howard and not Kobe Bryant. Bryant leads the league in scoring, which IMO is a problem, because Howard nor Gasol are getting the touches they need and for some reason they think Gasol is now a stretch 4. Gasol is one of the top post players in the league, but no lets put him on the perimeter to shoot jump shots with his slow and awkward release. This is why I didn't want Pringles coming to the Lakers.

Can't happen. Lakers wouldn't be able to sign LeBron when he opts out and maintain their stranglehold on the NBA news cycle.

Refuse to believe there is even one iota of truth behind that rumor.

If the Lakers move Gasol...it will be for an expiring contract so they can go super team with CP3/Dwight/Kobe

The notable absence of a link or source along with the shit writing has my Bleacher Report senses tingling. This is not a rumor.

Do you really think the Lakers would be a better fit for CP3 than the Clippers next season? Kobe that much closer to retirement so it'd just be Paul and Howard with the sorriest supporting cast in the NBA.

Don't think so. Better off with the Clippers if the choice is just those two teams...

If they want Pau to contribute stop having play like a stretch four. They really should have hired Phil Jackson he would have been a great fit to coach this team. Also I find it funny that whenever Kobe doesn't take 20-25+ shots the Lakers win, They need to have more nights like that.

Wouldnt take long for the Lakers to build a very quality bench. Guys would take less money to be a part of that team. Look what happened with Miami. None of us could have imagine theyd get guys like Ray Allen or Rashard Lewis coming off their bench.

Not saying it would happen, but the other team in LA will always be more attractive.

Watching the Lakers go up in flames is probably more entertaining than the NBA itself

Once Miami put it together people always knew veterans would be willing to take less to play for a contender. This is the way of the NBA. It also helps that the best player in the league is one of he most unselfish superstars this league has ever seen, so guys are willing to sacrifice to play with him. Th problem with the Lakers is Kobe. Guys aren't going to want to play with him to watch him lead the league in scoring and isolate the team. Kobe needs to realize that in order to add to his trophy count he would be better served toning it down a bit and focus on getting Howard involved and tell Pringles to change the offense to accommodate Gasol's strengths.

It's ignorant to say guys wouldn't jump to play for a team consisting of CP3/Kobe/D12 though. Especially considering it a much more popular destination than Miami. I hate how much a ball hog Kobe is like everyone else, but I dont think it deters players away from the team at all.
