Grizzlies & Cavs Agree To Multi-Player Trade, Grizz Sign 2

    Rotoworld

The Grizzlies have agreed to trade Marreese Speights, Josh Selby, Wayne Ellington and a future draft pick to the Cavs for Jon Leuer, according to various reports.

Picks are also thought to be involved in the deal. It's not quite the blockbuster deal that so many expected the Grizzlies to complete before the trade deadline, but it would be a move that sheds some money off of Memphis' books. Speights would be a solid acquisition for a Cavs team that just lost Anderson Varejao for the season and has the most to gain from a fantasy perspective in this deal.
The Grizzlies will reportedly sign free agents Delonte West, Bill Walker and Sasha Vujacic to free-agent contracts.

The Grizzlies just sent out three bench players in a trade with Cleveland on Tuesday morning, so this isn't a huge surprise. What is surprising is the choice of players coming in. West famously ended his tenure in Dallas on a rocky note, while Walker hasn't played in the league all season and Vujacic has been playing abroad.

NBA trades confuse the hell out of me. There is no way that seems like a fair deal

In effect the Grizzlies traded Ellington, Speights, Selby, and a future pick for Jon Leur, Bill Walker, Delonte West, and Sasha Vujacic. When you add the three free agent signings in there, this deal looks a LOT better. The one player that the Grizz are going to miss would be Wayne Ellington. The dude has absolutely lit the basket up from three-point distance at times. Good trade for Cleveland to get Speights though, as a solid replacement for Varejao. Interesting trade.

Speights sucks and won't replace Verejo. Other than the draft pick I am not sure why the Cavs made this trade. Selby has a tone of talent, but in Memphis he hasn't been given consistent minutes to do anything. He has the talent to be a solid 3rd guard. Ellington is okay. I've never understood why mediocre teams such as the Cavs make trades like this, because moves like this don't improve the team. I guess it is just change to make a change.

NBA trades ceased being "my guy for your guy" many many years ago. Nearly every NBA trade is now financially motivated.

By-product of a very confusing, silly and VERY punishing NBA luxury tax.

I was looking forward to seeing Ellington light it up when i made it out to Memphis in March. Jon Leuer? Seriously, i know its to shed cap but they couldnt get anyone better than that?

His shot is so smooth on there.

Miles, Ellington, Gee, Gibson. Cavs have enough shooters. They need big men....their backcourt has a lot of guys now.
