I don't get the Philly trade either. Why would you trade your 23 year old All-Star? At best that New Orleans pick will be a mid to early 20's pick and by that time non of the supposed "future stars" of the draft will be available. I am not a fan of Michael Carter-Williams.Comment

Next year Hawes comes off the books. They will be paying 4 guys currently on the roster if Richardson doesn't retire plus Noel and MCW on rookie deals. So looking at next summer the Sixers will have cap for two max deals, and have two lotto picks. I don't see how that is bad for a rebuilding team.Comment

You are expecting the Pelicans to make the playoffs with Jrue? What team do they bump out? And also Devin Harris was an all-star. If Rose and Rondo were healthy, is Jrue an all-star? Sixers were at best an 8-10 seed going into next year with him and now they are most likely picking in the Top 5 and will have another pick around 10-12, plus have Noel and MCW as pieces to build with.

I am not saying Philly is in a bad position to rebuild, but I don’t get the point in trading your elite PG who is only 23 years old in hopes of tanking your season and getting two high draft picks. NO isn’t going to be a bad team next year. I can see them winning about 40 games or so.Comment

Who said NO is a playoff team? I said they would be improved to the point where their draft pick at best will be a mid-1st (late lottery), which takes you out of the elite prospect range. So, because Vasquez had a career year he is now comparable to Holiday? Philly basically is taking a gamble on getting some high draft picks to rebuild.......Holiday is a proven young commodity that you can easily build around as well and this is my point.Last edited by ralaw; 06-28-2013, 02:01 PM.Comment

Semantics.......at the end of the day Holiday is one of the better young PGs in the league.

In a way, Holiday was a spiritual descendant not of Allen Iverson or Maurice Cheeks, but of Andre Iguodala, the good-but-not-great No. 1 option, the second banana miscast in the role of leader by a franchise that was often paralyzed by indecision and a lack of creativity. Those days are over. Now, "good" isn't good enough. "Good" gets traded for the potential for big upside, not only in Noel but in the top-five protected pick coming from New Orleans.Comment

From the Sixers SB Nation site
Hinkie is looking for something bigger than the 6-8 seed. He is looking to build a championship team and he thinks with Noel, MCW and two lotto picks next year is his young core. Not saying they get Wiggins but there is a greater chance now then when they had Jrue on the roster. Even if they don't get Wiggins, they have a really great chance in getting one of Parker, Randle, Andrew Harrison or Aaron Gordon. You put one of them in the lineup, another lotto pick like Glenn Robinson and this team looks a lot better than it has in the last 5-10 years.
Some of this has to do with me really liking this roster going into last year now they have completely blown it up.Comment

The pick being top 5 protected makes it worse to me. Being out of the top 5 takes you out of the Wiggins, Parker, Smart, Randle and Harrison sweepstakes. It is a different situation, but I sort of equate it to what OKC did with the Harden trade. You trade your proven talent to a team (making them better) and expect a high draft pick in return..........instead you get a late lottery project in return.

I had to scream this on Twitter while fuckface Simmons rambled on during the broadcast about how it cost the Thunder a championship and how it was an awful move.Last edited by FedEx227; 06-28-2013, 03:07 PM.Comment
