Unfortunately the injuries and the era will overshadow what Tracy McGrady was all about. The Lakers ruled the early 2000's when Tracy was doing his damn thing and he was always sort of that "background" superstar. Not really coming to the forefront. Once he started to make a name for himself and develop that super stardom the injuries came and limited what he and Yao were able to accomplish.

My favorite player growing up, along side Nowitzki. Sad that he's finally hanging them up.

The Kobe vs. T-Mac debates seem like a lifetime ago. McGrady was one of the top players of his era. It is unfortunate what injuries did to him.

Just imagine if the Rockets could ever keep McGrady and Yao healthy at the same time. Those guys were among the top 3 (if not higher) at the time for their respective positions when healthy.

I can't think of two players in any sport who had such high peaks early who had careers derailed by injury like McGrady and Grant Hill. What makes it worse for the sport is having them so close together like that.
