Being a Toronto Raptors' fan sucks

All I hear is my team should implode and suck beyond belief to get a top draft pick.
On some levels, I understand that, but one only has to look at the Charlotte Bobhornets to understand that simply sucking to death guarantees nothing. The lottery could screw you.
So, back to my Raptors, damn it ... I love my team for all its flaws. I actually like our starting five, even after Rudy Gay shoots 5,000 shots a game.
I even loved the socialist Euro Raptors.

IMO, a team intentionally tanking sucks. Even if a loser GM like Bryan Colangelo is bringing in damaged Jermaine O'Neal, weirdo Hedo Turkoglu or wannabe Kobe in Rudy Gay ... Colangelo was always trying to win (even if spectacularly failing).

Even now, with that flawed roster, I'm dim enough to think the Raptors could make the playoffs and possibly pull off a first round upset. Yeah, it's the fan in me, but I don't want a team intentionally sucking in hopes of getting a #1 pick that's not guaranteed thanks to the David Stern lottery. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist? No thanks.

I get it. It's hell being an NBA fan of most teams. Utter hopelessness and despair.

If you care about instant gratification then you should stay away from the NBA for awhile. Outside of a handful of teams, patience is the name of the game. Toronto already has the most important piece of the puzzle in a good intelligent GM. Best case scenario is to tank and let him rebuild and shape the roster to his liking through the draft. It's what worked for OKC and Indiana and it can definately work for Toronto.
