Just watched an amazing speech given by Tom Izzo (Coach of MSU) about the passing of Lacey at the age of only 8 years old. Lacey fought hard and long and finally lost her battle with cancer. I know there are a lot of hard asses here so please keep your trolling to yourself. Watch the video, tell me you didn't shed a tear, and I'll tell you that you have no heart. The speech about how Tom Izzo is so proud to be the coach at MSU and so proud to have been touched by this little girl. I can honestly admit, that I am a person who wears his emotions on his sleeve and isn't afraid to shed a tear. I watched the video, which I will provide a link below, and felt like I need to call/text/email her parents somehow, someway. Do something to help even though I don't even know this family or girl. I'm sure some of you have dealt with similar stories within your own family/friend network and I'm sorry. I too can be included in that mix. Within my family including my wives side, we havehis had 3 grandmothers who had breast cancer, and just recently my father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Brain Cancer. I'm writing this post to rant, just express how I am feeling and hope that others can lend support to me, others, family members, anyone who may need it.
On March 21st, My first child, Benjamin was born with perfect health. It was the best day of my life (even though I saw some things I never wanted to see). He is my everything and he is all I think about (besides my wife and HHL!) I can't imagine, only after 3 weeks, how much something like Lacey's parents are going through. I hope to never have to feel their pain, and I hope the same for all of you as well. (Even PP!) Cancer if a bad mf'er which seems to not be preventable. My father may have the best diet and health habits I've ever seen in a person, and was diagnosed with brain cancer. Our neighbor who is 90 and has smoked for the past 60+ years, is in perfect health condition. What can you do? Support, donate, spend time! As gay looking as those dumb bracelets are buy a few. Support people around you and in your community. Donate your time, your hair, anything to help someone who is fighting this.
These MSU students are signing some type of rock in her remembrance. After watching the video, I felt like I even needed to visit MSU one time or another to see this rock and leave my imprint. I know you have heard it all before, but the Statement "Dont Give Up, Dont Ever Give Up" speaks volumes. I got home tonight at 8pm after working 13 hours and I bitched and moaned for 30 minutes about it. Really? I look at myself in the mirror with disgust (not because I could lose a few), but there are far bigger problems going on in the world, especially to children who can't protect or fight for themselves. World wide, a child is diagnosed with Brain Cancer every 3 minutes! 3 freaking minutes. By the time this post was completed, 10 children would have just found out to have brain cancer. (Let that settle in). The Next time you complain about something like working 13 hours, doing the dishes, laundry, cutting the grass, seeing your inlaws, think of Lacey and those kids.
I want to thank you all if you read this. If not, it was a good way for me to vent about shit that is bothering me in life. If you did make it this far, please pm me and let me know what you think. If anyone ever needs to talk about anything going on in their life that is bothering me, I always lend a listening ear. I'm a great listener who doesn't judge. You wanna come out of the closet (KCA), I support you. Someone in your family has passed, I'll support you. Again thanks for your time and please watch the video linked below.
The family asks that people make a donation to charity of their choice in Lacey’s honor. Suggestions from the family include the Sparrow Foundation Pediatric Rehabilitation Fund (sparrowfoundation.org), or the purchasing of a brick with Lacey’s name for the City of St. Johns Spray Park (cityofstjohnsmi.com). People wishing to make contributions directly to the family can send them to PO Box 101 St. Johns, Mich. 48879.
