Sweet, we now have the potential to be better than that. I'd rather not be complacent with a round 1 exit. Go big or go home.

Based on what exactly? Still have a terrible GM and a lame duck coach in place. No real assets to speak of after years of drafting in the lottery, etc.

You're putting an awful lot of faith in an organization which has done very little to warrant it.

All of the points you mention are correct but the contracts of the guys we whiffed on are coming up and expiring. Every contract on our team outside of Wall/Webster/Porter are expiring over the next year or two. That should give us plenty of money to afford Beal + another all star. Nene's expiring contract might even net us a few quality role players in a few years if Durant does end up resigning in OKC. There's plenty of options for this team to improve moving forward.

Let's take a quick look at the 2014 NBA Free Agents and gauge where the Hawks likely end up on them and who we think might best fit an under-the-radar type approach.

List of players the Hawks could realistically target. Gortat and Ariza in the top four.
