ESPN article made it seem as though he just doesn't wanna play football anymore. He was set to be the 3rd stringer this year perhaps.

His coach said he simply doesn't like playing football anymore and is staying at ASU as a student.

I always feel bad for guys trying to live up to their father's names...

people like Walter Payton's son never had a real chance.

I mean, Jesus, how do you follow that?

Never had a real chance? Generally kids of all-time greats wouldn't be there if it wasn't for their last name. I remember watching Jarrett Payton trying to make it in Tennessee and wondering to myself, "how did this guy make it this far?"

Payton was a pretty good college player. I was always sad to see that the Bears never gave him a chance. He IMO was no worse than a player like Anthony Thomas skill set wise and could have done some nice things for us.

Payton's issue was he was a 'tweener. Not a true NFL HB, but not big enough to be a FB.

I didn't mean it like that...

I meant it in the sense that,

The people who are talented enough to be a great in the NFL are such a minute population, that out of every 100 kids you'd be lucky to find one that was good enough to do so, and thats being incredibly generous.

Yes, they had the opportunity and all the breaks, but do they have the talent? because that's something that can't be given to you... you either have it or you don't. and if you don't have it, your out of luck.

I'd leave the football team to party with ASU girls too.

His father's name got him a tryout at Titans camp and stuck on for 2 years getting a NFL paycheck. It probably didnt hurt that Fisher played with Payton ;)
