Like I said, I agree (see my greatest point guards list for further proof of that fact). But 2 MVPs is more easily quantifiable helping to give Nash the higher score.

As for Mutombo what kind of argument is there for him not getting in? Lack of offensive production?

For me, the biggest reason is that in a very long career, it was a very short window where he was considered among the best centers in the league. He also hasn't won a championship. And yes, he didn't score nearly enough. The same reason Rodman still isn't in (well, one of the reasons for Rodman) and Ben Wallace may not get in, either. At least they've both won titles. If you're not going to score points then you've either got to have some championship rings on your fingers or some mind blowing stats in the other areas. Like I said though, I can go either way on this one.

I can see that point, especially when it comes to best all around centers but what helps him IMO is his longevity as a great defensive center. He was a defensive prescence even late in his career after his scoring dipped. Mutombo was just never a great offensive player. To hold him up to that standard IMO is a bit unfair but what may keep him off the first ballot is he might be compared to "The Dream" a lot who was another great defender but put up far better offensive numbers. That could hurt Mutombo a lot but in all honest in my mind he is a doubt HOF'er at some point.

Rodman IMO should be in the HOF and Wallace I don't think should. Rodman had a long period of time where he was a premier rebounder/defender. Stunning and impressive especially in an era of guys like Mutombo, Shaq, Ewing, Robinson, Olajuwon, etc. even for all his personality issues it's impossible to ignore what he did on the court and the era in which he did it.

Ben Wallace to me was a flash in the pan and once he left Detroit he was at best an average defender and always looked overmatched with the Bulls. Honeslty Ben Wallace IMO is overrated. I have a feeling much of his success in Detroit was based on the fact that he was on a great defending team, not that he himself was that great of a defender. He was very good but in all honesty not as good as perceived.

Never really thought of Vinsanity as a Hall of Fame level player, but I guess his case is interesting.

Agree with Yao being low...big men need to win championships...without one, you aren't anybody important.

Shocked to see Deek so low on the list. Thought longevity + high end defensive prowess gets him in...maybe not, it seems.

I actually have them saved elsewhere. From time to time, I'll retrieve some & throw them up here (in between new lists, of course).
