Even as an IU fan I never minded Kentucky fans. You guys aren't nearly as bad as Duke lovers.

UK is going to be legit next season. Calipari can recruit, that's for sure.

Thats all i ever hear on the internet and in the media is how crazy Kentucky fans are and how we expect too much but our glory days are over, blah blah blah. Every fan base has their crazies and unrealistic expectation guys but Kentucky just happens to have a National fanbase so it seems exaggerated IMO.

I dont expect a National Championship but i do know that there will be more talent on the 09 team than UK has had since the 96 championship team. I think this seasons team will have better players than the 98 Championship team.

How quickly things change from all of you so down on UK in March...

No wonder why that program has fallen into the depths of mediocrity.

It's no wonder that next year's recruits are parting like the red sea.

Only a short matter of time now until both UNC and Kansas pass Kentucky in all time wins. It will probably happen next season.

Purdue has a better program than Kentucky at the moment and thats pretty embarrassing. I wish nothing but the worst for their fanbase they need to be humbled.

I try to think about how I overreacted to Kentucky in march, but then I give catspause.com a read.
There's a reason i dont go on catspause, it seems to be the more fanatical of the Cat sites. I read Kentucky Sports Report on Scout.com

The best are the idiots trying to argue how Calipari will actually continue to keep Kentucky at the top of college basketball programs, like they somehow haven't suffered some sort of drop off in the last few years they haven't even made the tournament.
They got lucky and hired one of the better college coaches out there, probably the only one that could have saved face for Kentucky at the moment. I don't think anyone's going to argue the kind of quality coach Cal is, but Kentucky as a basketball program over the last 10 years on the other hand....

One time in the last 15 years Kentucky hasnt made the tournament and that was this past year. 2 years of the past 10 they have had the number 1 recruiting class in the country, 2 times in the past 10 years they have been the number one OVERALL seed in the NCAA tournament. 5 of the past 10 years they have had the SEC Coach of the year. 2 of the last 10 years they have had the SEC player of the year. So yeah i'd like to argue the past 10 years of Kentucky basketball. Your turn to state your case.

Dont get butthurt and please feel free to argue with me, im loving talking hoops over here. MM was all football all the time. NCAA basketball discussion was relegated to one thread all year.

Silk your a Kansas fan correct? Its good to see on the phog.net forums that Kentucky is the subject of 8 of the most active threads on the first page. KU isnt worried about UK at all right?

In all seriousness KU is still my favorite to win it all this year.

Kentucky is still an elite program that was certainly on the decline, but Calipari is about to change all of that. Calipari has mastered the art of bringing in one-and-done players and surrounding them with 4 year players who also are really good as compliments. College sports has become more about recruiting and when you combine a great recruiter with an elite program great things are soon to happen. Calipiari has made a career out of going to small programs, making them elite for a short time (see UMass/Memphis) and getting them on the national scene, but he's never been at an elite program like Kentucky. The Kentucky name by itself carries some weight and when you combine that with Calipari? Whaaa? Are you serious? As long as Kentucky fans and administration keep realistic expectations
this program will become elite (on the court) again.

UK goes on probation before winning a title under Coach Cal.

Its going to be just like when Cal led Memphis to the National Title game and they went on probation, oh wait they did get to the NC game but werent on probation.
