    Stallworth suspended indefinitely by NFL

Cleveland Browns receiver Donte' Stallworth was suspended by the NFL indefinitely without pay following his guilty plea to DUI manslaughter in the death of a pedestrian, the league announced Thursday.

Stallworth was sentenced in a Miami court Tuesday to 30 days in jail, a controversial ruling that drew a great deal of criticism.

Commissioner Roger Goodell wrote a detailed letter to Stallworth explaining the stiff penalty levied by the league.

"The conduct reflected in your guilty plea resulted in the tragic loss of life and was inexcusable," Goodell wrote. "While the criminal justice system has determined the legal consequences of this incident, it is my responsibility as NFL commissioner to determine the appropriate league discipline for your actions, which have caused irreparable harm to the victim and his family, your club, your fellow players and the NFL."
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth, who pleaded guilty Tuesday for killing a pedestrian while driving drunk in Florida, has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL.

Saw this coming. He probably wont be reinstated until his house-arrest is done.

      lol @ Goodell

Fuck him. No reason to suspend Donte, if he killed a man or not.

Donte could of fought the legal system and made this bigger deal than what it was. Instead he did the right thing and put in a guilty plea, made a deal with the local DA and got his sentence. He's already being punished but Goodell being the asshole he is decides that's not good enough?

Partly. I can see where Donte did wrong off the field but when has off the field shenanigans resulted in on field suspensions (other than Pacman)? I guess I don't see where Goodell has grounds to suspend Stallworth?

Don't bring that Mike Vick crap in here. That's comparing Apples to Oranges. Vick was busted by the feds. Not some local county sheriff. Granted killing dogs and killing people are two different things but accidents happen. People kill others by accident all the time, they don't lose their jobs over it. Their boss doesn't take their paycheck away because their actions were detrimental to the company...please.

Vehicular manslaughter isnt enough for you to suspend someone? Thats pretty mindblowing man.

I mean.. Leonard Little was suspended 8 games for a similar incident a few years back. But Goodell has already shown he doesnt play around when it comes to suspending players.

I feel bad for Goodell a little bit.. I mean hes pretty much been forced to be his own court room. Hes handed out sentences to far more players than a commish ever should have to.

Usually they do because they spend more than 30 days in jail.

                      He was legally drunk!

                      This wasn't a simple accident.

Leonard Little should have been kicked out of the league or at least suspended for a year.

Ten times worse than Stallworth because he actually did it twice.

Indeed. But Stallworth deserves the same.

Little killed the woman before Goodell. That was Tagliabue's call. During his tenure, I'm pretty sure he would have let Rae Carruth come back.
