I guess you could just say I'm more of a mature fan who understands players come and go. I enjoy watching Ray Lewis play football, but if he decided he wanted out I wouldn't care, because I am a Ravens fan first.....if a player doesn't want to be a part of the Ravens they are useless to me, so why worry about them? Its not as if they're my ex girlfreind or someting, which some fans make it seem to be. I wish them well, but that's about as far as that goes.

I think there is a difference between:

I'm at the end of my contract and I want to try Free Agency or sign with whatever team I want. I can respect what that player gave to the team while he was here and wish them the best where ever they go.

AND......

I have years on my contract, but I don't want to live up to it. I'll even go badmouthing the team and owners, just to get my way (TO, Chad Johnson). You don't cave to this, and you don't respect it.

After Holmgren left, he has choked in big games (ints that ended games). I'm not saying Brett won't do well for you, but that guys post isn't all that inaccurate. I would have been a bit more tactful about it.

Dope....Keep Brett under control and win games with AD and defense, and things could go well. I just think a lot will come down arm strength and not forcing Brett to win games. Brett's style of play (his mechanics) won't allow for a loss of arm strength. Like you say, just use Brett to keep 9 out of the box and it will help your team (as much as I don't like to say that, but you understand why).

For me there is no difference, because at the end of the day a player is making the same decision that they don't want to be a part of the team. I don't have a problem with a player trying to force his way out, because I understand things happen and if the team no longer feels they want a player they can simply cut them. Yes, the media coverage of a player wanting out can become annoying, but that really isn't the players fault. I just don't get attached to these athletes like that, because I understand they come and go; and for the most part playing for an organization for them is simply a place of work.

i was more of less just laughing at how for 17 years favre was a golden boy to a lot of packers fans but now he's nothing more than a scrub who should get baby aids and die.

i'm still not sure I want favre or not....but we all know he's better than TJack and probably better than Sage.

Oh, I don't call him a scrub. We was a very good QB. I'm just trying to be realistic about it.

EDIT: And he is getting older, and more prone to injuries. He definitely isn't what he used to be.

He is getting older and more prone to injuries. It's fair to also point out that in the '07 season he had one of the best statistical years of his career and only missed out on his 4th MVP due to the Patriots going 16-0. Through game 10 of last year prior to his injury, he was also having an incredible year statistically. Nobody said he was over the hill until the Jets season went down the tubes.

The injury is the unknown part of the equation. If that was really the issue with the decline over the second half of the season last year and he is healed, the Vikings could be getting a great pickup. If his arm is shot and the injury wasn't really the issue, he should just stay retired. It will be interesting to see.

Even before the he was traded to the Jets, before he even retired, I noticed he clearly struggled in cold weather games during that 07 season. A real sign of age. Brett was much better before the cold set in, and did have a very good 07, till the weather changed.

With the Vikings in a Dome, the weather won't be much of a factor in Dec. I may be in Jan come playoff time though. His arm was fine against the Bears, and Giants last year, the two cold weather games that he struggled in. So I'm not sure the slide at the end of last year was only due to injury. And he is another year older.
