Just wondering who everyones top 5 is going into this season. Mine may get a little controversial but here it is.
1) Adrian "All-Day" Peterson
In his two short years in the league Peterson has quickly risen to stardom. He can juke you, truck you, out run you, throw out a stiff arm, catch out of the backfield and is an improving blocker. If he can keep up this type of production and cut down on his fumbles he'll quickly enter the conversation of G.O.A.T.
2) Deangelo Williams
Threatened by Rookie RB Jonathan Stewart, Williams quickly evolved into an elite RB this season, keeping the rookie at bay and cementing himself as one of the NFLs best young RBs. Even tho he shared the load he finished the season with the third most rushing yards, over 1500 and lead the league with 18 TD's. To those who say he only scored as a goal line back he was also top 3 in the lg in 20+ yard runs, 40+ yard runs and rushing average.
3) Michael "The Burner" Turner
Turner spent the early part of his career in the shadow of LT. With a chance to finally be the lead back and spread his wings he did just that. Showing he wasn't just a speed back as he had been touted in SD. Turner bowled over defenders all season to the tune of 1600 yards and the Falcons 1st playoff appearance in the post Vick era. With an offense that is only improving looks to see Turner but up a repeat performance this season as on of the leagues premier backs.
4) Ladanian Tomlinson
LT enjoyed years of being the best RB in the league, slowed by injuries he recorded career lows in rushing yards, TD, and YPC. That being said he still racked up 1100 yards and 11TD's, some guys would kill for those to be their lows. Expect a healthy LT to come back strong now with Sproles proven as a great compliment back.
5) Clinton Portis
This was the toughest position to make because so many guys are right there, even a few of last seasons rookies are knocking on the door of the top 5.
Clinton Portis came back in a big way in 2008, leading the league in rushing through the 1st half of the season untill he was once again derailed by injuries (which he played through). Portis is a punishing back with great vision, who can block and catch. He finishes his runs in a way that makes you not want to hit him head on.
