I mean.. Cooley only has better stats than Heath in every year of his career (save his rookie year). I mean it would be foolish to assume someone who is flat out better than the other guy is uhh.. flat out better?

Say whatever you want about blocking, the Steelers dont block for shit in general anyways so good luck with a TE that has skills as a blocker really making an impact there (clearly he hasnt). I also love how Miller disspears for games at a time (which im well aware of cause I drafted this mother fucker in FF 2 years in a row), while Cooley is a consistent threat in the Redskins offense on the regular.

Todays hybrid t.e must be a good pass catcher, and be able to take over a game at that position. Outside of being thrown to on the goal line off of PA, Heath hasnt been much of a game changer as far as a pass catcher. As a receiver he has never caught more than 50 passes, surpassed 600 yards and all of his tds come from the redzone. He hasnt shown the ability to be a mismatch for opposing teams defenses.

He's never caught more than 50 passes or 600 yards because of the way he's used. He's more than capable of reaching those numbers or better. A) He's such a good blocker, and the Steelers line sucks so bad they keep him in to block for extra protection more than anybody on your list. B) The Steelers run the ball a lot taking away from pass attempts, and obviously taking away from times Miller is targeted. C) Too many mouths to feed. The Steelers have too many valuable targets to give Heath Miller as many pass attempts as Gates or Winslow. Have your choice but there are too many factors to list as to why Miller doesn't have the stats you want. Fact is he's still a valuable target.

And LOL for taking anything away from him for being a goal line threat. That's just stupid.

Fact is he's very good in the passing game, make no mistake about it. If Miller changes places with anybody on your list he's going to have as much success or better than most of these guys. I mean he averages as many YPC as Witten. Put him on the Cowboys and we're talking about a top 2 or 3 TE maybe. But that's speculative so scratch that. Right now I'd say he's in the 4 to 6 range of top TE's in the league to be honest.

And GTFOOH for puting Carlson and Zach above Heath.

Your post is all about potential, if, and shoulda coulda woulda. He hasnt shown it and because of it he isnt top 5. Like I said, a great blockers is a plus nowadays in the nfl. Teams rarely draft and pick up t.es because of their blocking ability, its there ability as a receiver that intrigues them. Statistically and playing wise miller doesnt show that kind of receiving ability and because of that he isnt top 5.
