Eagles MLB Stewart Bradley Out For Year (Torn ACL)

Posted by Mike Florio on August 3, 2009 11:53 AM ET
Howard Eskin of 610 WIP in Philly reports that Eagles middle linebacker Stewart Bradley suffered a torn ACL on Sunday night during a scrimmage.

He's expected to be out for the year.

Bradley became the starter last year at the position, and he was expected to be the primary signal-caller on defense this season.

      Hate to see that.

In a perfect world, I'd hope our entire division stayed at full strength all year.

Of course, that's impossible, but these are the exact type of things I hope that avoid us this year.

ouch, i remember Titans MLB and defensive brain Peter Sirmon being injured right before the start of the season and the titans going 3-13. just saying ;)

Nah i think Philly has a little more talent than that Titans team did.

Eagles Flight Night was awful last night. Top it off with Stew getting hurt and missing the entire year....never again.

I hope the Eagles learned their lesson. Flight Night = garbage.
WTF is Flight Night? That what they call the TC launch?

Oh GODDAMNIT!! I swear this team, gets hit by one major injury every fuckin year. Gaither better be up to task. If not him we got Joe Frikkin Mays.........christ. New DC, and the primary defensive playcaller and leading tackler out for the year. Great just f'in great.

Since when was Stewart Bradley teh shizzo?

I guess this is a major injury due to how weak their LB core is and not due to how good he is.

ive always thought gaither was philly's best linebacker, i think he's more than capable of taking over bradley's spot. however bradley was one of the defense's vocal leaders, it's a loss for sure.

Same thing happened to Jason Sehorn if I recall correctly.

Solid MLB who started last year and was expected to be the signal-caller on defense this year. Not a good way to start training camp or the 2009 season for the Eagles. They may be scouring the waiver wire or looking to make a trade to help bolster their depth at the position now.

He doesn't play the Mike position. He plays the Will. He is too small for the Mike.

I still think a rotation of Akeem Jordan, Omar Gaither, Joe Mays and Chric Cocong and the young guys. Hopefully it doesn't absolutely cripple this defense, Bradley is incredibly underrated. Regardless, the injury will hurt, but i believe this defense will still perform pretty well, the whole team will be dedicating this season to Jim Johnson and play their hearts out.

they said that he was too small to play any LB position coming out of college... but I def wouldn't support the eagles trying to go get him.
