Not shocked. Coaches were impressed with the kid in shells and one-on-one drills. As soon as the bullets start to fly in practice, he throws 3 interceptions and quarterbacks coach Greg Olson was not impressed.

"He took a step backwards and he turned the ball over. I think he had three interceptions today, which is unacceptable."

Not saying one bad day proves my point. I know and understand he is a rookie. It's just I see a lot of days like this in the future. Hell, the kid is getting rocked when the heat is turned up in practice, let alone what will happen in a actual game. From what I have heard, today was his worst day through all the mini-camps, etc. However, I also have been hearing that when it's 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 he isn't all that impressive. That's ok though, Sunshine is enamored with him and was "blown away" by his 3 interception performance last season versus Kansas, which is what prompted Sunshine to decide he was a franchise quarterback.

So, after yesterday afternoon's performance where he threw 2 INTs and this morning where he threw 3 INTs, Freeman has accounted for 5 INTs in just the last 2 practices alone. All this after he has put in "extra time" and has said that he continues to grasp the offense. Can't wait to see what he does when he "masters" the offense.

Leftwich will be starting opening day. Its simple.

No he won't. He hasn't been all that impressive either. Luke McCown has been the most consistent of the quarterbacks thus far. If Shrek is the starter on opening day...it does not mean the quarterback position is in good hands. He would just be the least shitty of what is currently on the roster.

Not yet. I think Josh Johnson could be a potential starter in this league. The kid is not only physically gifted, but, he has an excellent football mind. The kid is just football smart. Believe it or not, Shrek may be cut. He has no guaranteed money or signing bonus, so if he fails to impress he may be out on his ass. It's also possible that the organization decides to keep 4 quarterbacks on the roster. There is no chance that the organization can sneak Johnson onto the practice squad. He would be claimed by someone.

I get it, you hate the pick. But 3rd day of TC and a rookie throwing picks isn't news. Reminds me of David Boston a few years ago when he was supposed to be our answer at receiver because he was tearing all the CBs a new asshole and making circus catches everywhere. Then he didn't make the roster.

I'm more concerned with Luke at this point. Freeman's a work in progress.

Its not just training camp. In mini-camp he was great in shells and 1-on-1's - in a scrimmage or 7-on-7 he has been unimpressive...especially as of late. My whole point is that the kid is impressive when nothing is on the line. When bullets start to fly - IN PRACTICE - he struggles. I can only imagine what will happen in his first pre-season game. His first regular season action.

As for David Boston he had an injury towards the end of camp and then he had his DUI both contributing factors as to why he never made it with the Bucs. Gruden and Allen told him they had a zero tolerance policy for him, much like Darrell Russell, and he blew it.

There's a saying that says "you're never as good or as bad as people say you are", and I think that's exactly what's happening here. The guy has participated in two NFL practices, and he's no longer a good prospect? How can you even guarantee those interceptions were his fault?

I'm not saying the guy is gonna be a superstar, nor am I saying he's gonna be bust.. I'm just saying you need to let the guy build himself a resume. You can't judge his ability off his first two NFL practices. If he's consistently throwing a pair of picks in every practice, then yeah, we have a problem. But if the guy turns around tomorrow and throws 3 TDs and no INTs, is he now the franchise QB you always wanted?

Actually he has participated in more than 2 NFL practices. He has had multiple mini-camps and rookie camps and has not impressed when faced with an actual defense and has consistently missed receivers or thrown INTs. The only reason I bring this up is because even quarterbacks coach Greg Olson is now speaking out. This is not a new problem for Freeman. It's been this way since he arrived at One Buc. Also, if he threw 3 TDs today, he would still not be the franchise quarterback I have always wanted, because I NEVER wanted him and neither did half of the fan-base. The only person truly enthralled by him is Sunshine who thinks he is god's gift to the position.

ROL had it right when he said Tito was babied at KSU. He was! Ron Prince treated Tito like he was a deity and it actually pissed off the other players on the roster. Tito could do no wrong while at KSU. It is probably part of the reason why he has claimed he is "better" than both Mark Sanchez and Matthew Stafford.

While, I am at it, let me just go ahead and point out that Freeman sat out the afternoon practice. It was confirmed he was not injured, he simply was told to OBSERVE McCown and Leftwich. That should tell you there has been an on-going problem to where they actually sat him and told him to simply observe practice.

I was at that game. It's kinda hard to lead a team and not turn the ball over when you have no running game. Know how Jordy Nelson did so well at K-state, so much to become the 2nd receiver taken? Josh Freeman.

At K-state he was forced to make lots of plays because our star running back got kicked off the team and we were playing with a shitty running back. No we aren't talking about Logan Dold, because Logan wasn't playing last year.

I will go ahead and state my case...again...as to why Freeman is not a franchise quarterback:

- His career completion percentage in college is below 60%

- 34 career INTs in 35 career games against college defenses. I can only imagine what those numbers will be against more complex/better/faster defenses at the NFL level

- Freeman's 2008 numbers were inflated due to the piss-poor defenses he faced in the Big XII and OOC

- Accuracy is a concern

- His completion percentage was up and down from 51% to 63% to 58%

- 8 of Freeman's 20 TDs last season came against North Texas, Montana State and Louisiana-Lafayette. Against vaunted Big XII defenses: 12 TDs and 8 INTs

None of those above facts yell "first round pick" to me. My problem is with the pick. I have a very strong opinion regarding the pick and I do not think this kid is a franchise quarterback. However, due to his draft posotion, we now have to make him a franchise quarterback by default. He just doesn't have the skills and it will be the nail in the coffin for Sunshine and Mark Dominik. This pick screams desperation. It reeks of trying to keep up with the elite franchises of the league. They are shoving this kid down our throat and all he can really offer is a big arm and big size. His does not impress me with his intelligence and his arrogance, which should not be confused with confidence, is nauseating. Claiming he is better than Sanchez and Stafford when he wasn't even better than them in college!?!?! WTF???

I was just using Boston as an example of a TC stud whose impressive play there didn't add up to a whole lot. Michael Clayton and Maurice Stovall fit in there too if the Boston example doesn't tickle your fancy.

What happened to Michael Clayton? He was really good his rookie year, then kinda disappeared. Very strange for a WR to have a great rookie season, then fall off the face of the earth.
