The first off-season he let his accomplishments dictate his work ethic. Got a big head and didn't work all that hard with his conditioning or the offense. Got in the dog-house with Gruden and caught a case of the dropsies for the next several years. Very inconsistent and just couldn't get back to his previous form.

However, all must be good. Sunshine and Dominik gave him a 5 year $25 million contract. Not sure who Clayton blew to get that kind of deal, but, he got it and he may be the starter opposite of Bryant this season.

I have a friend of mine who is a college scout and a few months ago he texted me when I asked him about Tito. His exact words were: "someone will fall in love with his physical make-up, he's too inconsistent to risk a first round pick on"

I talked to him after that and he actually compared him to Jamarcus Russell. Some other people have compared him to Ben Roethlisberger, but, the Russell comparison seems more appropriate to me.

Bucs fell in love with him because of the connection their new head coach had with K-State and Josh Freeman...pretty much it.

          Sucks for Buc fans.

Well we know why he fell in love with him. That's my whole problem with the pick. Sunshine is overlooking soooo many other factors just to draft this kid who is not worthy of a 1st round selection.

Ike could have had even more yards that year than the 733 that Clayton couldn't put up if there were 20 games in a season.....
Just b/c he got PT doesn't mean Gruden wasn't pissed at him. Not saying Clayton's lack of production is due to being in the "dog house" I was just mentioning it as part of his lackluster career thus far.

Clayton really only has himself to blame. He was out every night partying after his rookie year. Often proclaiming himself the "next T.O." The next season he came into camp out of shape and with no further knowledge of the offense than he had the prior season.

I agree with you, people say Gruden fucked with Clayton and the guy got more PT for someone who could not produce than I have ever seen. Still doesn't mean he wasn't on Gruden's shit-list.

Give Freeman the McNair treatment (keep benched and let him develop) and he could be something.

Not if Sunshine has anything to say about it. He was lauding Tito with praise just a few months ago talking about how he could start. He probably won't, but, it is definitely not going to be 2 years before Tito takes a snap. Sunshine will throw him in at the first sign of trouble for Luke or Shrek.

I doubt it. I think Luke is a sleeper though. I expect him to do pretty well with the weapons we have surrounding him and the offensive line. Granted Sears future is up in the air but If what they have been saying about Zuttah is true since he was drafted we shouldnt miss a beat. Its a blow to the depth but as far as a staring unit we are solid.

I think the real questions will be on defense. Ill have my eye on the CB positions as well as Flips move to the Will.

Training Camp doesn't mean anything and there are plenty of guys who don't do well in it, and still succeed in the regular season. A rookie that comes to mind is Ryan Clady of the Broncos. Bronco fans weren't impressed with him in camp, but he dominated in the season and only allowed .5 sack the whole year.

And, you like Josh Johnson, but not Josh Freeman? Ummm, ok, you do know Johnson was a 6th round pick and is from a D2 college, right?

Actually it is in regards to his overall body of work in college, mini-camp, rookie camp, OTA's and training camp thus far. Had you read through the thread you would have seen that.

Also, I didn't say I wanted Josh Johnson to start. I said I think he can be a starter in the league. In fact, those I know, that are in the know, have basically said the kid is a football whiz. He knows the game very well. He just needs to hone his mechanics and continue to develop. Oh, and yes, I do know he is from a smaller school (University of San Diego), however, like I said before, he is developing nicely and I didn't see the need to waste a 1st round pick this year on a quarterback. It was a desperation move. You just go ahead and keep drinking the Josh Freeman kool-aid if you like. Or, you can read through the thread and gain some perspective.

lol it's his first training camp. Aaron Rodgers was absolutely terrible his first 2 years in training camp and pre-season. He was absolutely horrendous. He seemed to end up ok.

It's perfectly fine for a rookie quarterback to not do well in training camp. It's a whole new game on this level--it will take some time.
