I can say that I admire the business sense that New England has when it comes to team building... this just furthers that.

This whole "rich get richer" thing only applies because all the sorry teams right now have shitty owners who can't their heads out of their asses to actually put together a solid team.

Says something about what the Pats currently had that they had to go out and get an average player who has never played OLB.

Season 1: 11-5 (Super Bowl Champion)
Season 2: 12-4 (NFC West Champion)

Jake Long >>>> Every Pass rusher in AFCE

Vernon Carey>>>> Just about every pass rusher in the AFCE

If anything it makes them tougher for other opponents.

Not a Delirious Dolphins fan here.

                Burgess is excellent.

BTW lol at Vernon Carey > Almost all pass rushers in AFC E. PUH LEASE.

I'm delirious for pointing out the fact that this trade says something about what the Pats had at linebacker before this trade, that Burgess has never played linebacker and Jake Long along with Vernon Carey can handle him?

LMAO Burgess is not excellent. He was very good as a defensive end, he has NEVER played linebacker and will be poor against the run. And what AFCE pass rusher can get by Carey with regularity?

I did not say he wasn't a beast ass tackle.

I just said your statement was retarded.

Carey has struggled in the past I know that.

i have a feeling that he will be a better 3-4 pass rush specialist than a 4-3 guy. its just much easier. look at all these so-called amazing pass rushers. most of them are 3-4 olbs. if most of them played de they would get dominated by guys like ryan clady, jordan gross ect. lets see what greg ellis does to prove my point. o yea any MVP1991 was right. carey and long only gave up 3 sacks each. so they are better than the pass rushers in the afc east. btw the pats ony got two sacks on those two tackles last year. they better hope burgess can help that.
                      EAGLES!!!! 13-3 :pepsi:

On another note, can Burgess play the stand up OLB spot in a 3-4 raider fans?
I guess we wouldn't f'ing know, would we? Seeing as how we run a 4-3...

A third rounder this year and a fifth-rounder next year? We lost Moss and Fabian for fourth rounders... ARGH! Our GM needs to be fired... And Al Davis needs to step away or be put in a coma.

I think the key word is "Acquire". 31 teams had a chance to "Acquire" Burgess, but the Pats were the ones to pull the trigger. It just shows that if the Pats see a way to improve their team, they do so. And with the pletheora of draft picks they accumulate year after year, its a no brainer. As Fleming said, the Pats/BB must feel Burgess will thrive in their system, which can be said about alot of players the Pats pick up that other teams think are washed up/noteffective/injury prone. They contribute based on their strengths, and not necessarily every down players, like on their previous teams, which makes them more effective.

There's still time... 6 weeks worth of game practice in the regular season plus whatever they can squeeze out of him when he can play to be exact.
