The defending Super Bowl champs are holding their breath.
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger went down with a right foot or ankle injury in the team's final practice of training camp, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The extent of the injury was not immediately clear.
Tackle Max Starks fell into Roethlisberger's leg 20 minutes before practice ended, the newspaper reported.
Roethlisberger went to the sideline after the injury where the training staff applied ice. They took the ice off his leg 20 minutes later.
When team president Art Rooney asked Roethlisberger how the injury was feeling, Roethlisberger replied with a slight smile, "Oh, it just feels great. It feels like a car ran over it."
When someone else asked him how he was, Roethlisberger said, "Oh, I'll be all right."
The Post-Gazette speculated that the injury may not be that serious, since the training staff did not immediately place Roethlisberger on a cart.
I sure hope it isn't serious, but if he does go down, i'd like to see my man Charlie Batch get some starts.
