    Mike Martz finally hired...

    ...by NFL Network.

It's a crime this guy isn't running someone's offense, or better yet, working as a head coach.

He's probably the most successful head coach in NFL history to never get a second chance.

    -20 games over .500 (56-36)

-2 divison titles, 4 playoff appearances, and 1 Super Bowl in 5 full years as a head coach.

    ...and my personal favorite...

-Rams are 17-42 since he was forced out.

    Saw him earlier.

It's nice to see Martz again, even if it's not on the field.

I think he was labeled as a guy who refused to innovate or adapt his philosophy. His refusal to run the ball, real or perceived, is what held him back IMO from getting another HC gig. Also seems like kind of a prickly and stubborn guy.

I thought he was doing well in Detroit. They were, what? 7-9, one of the top offenses in football, but took the blame and was chased out of town, where they fall big time in the offensive category and finish 0-16.

Personally, I think he should be head coaching in Detroit right now... but I guess they had better plans.. You know, that whole 0-16 thing.

I dont care if Martz is unable to utilize the running back.. trade your star back for a star WR and deal with a pass happy offense with a back who can also catch the ball. Mike Martz is an offensive stud.. he made guys like JT O'Sullivan and Shaun Hill look like they can actually play QB and put up some numbers. He is the mastermind behind "The Greatest Show On Turf", which provided us some of the most entertaining football of our lifetimes. Its sad that Martz gets a lot of unjustified hate, IMO. Dude should no question have a job as atleast an OC in the NFL.

                Mike Martz + Tony Romo.

I'd have a new favorite team.

At all three stops of his career, he immediately improved the brutal offenses he inherited in his first year.

And in the case of the Rams and Lions, those same offenses fell off drastically as soon as he left. Nobody would be shocked if the 49ers suffered the same fate this year.

Martz is cocky, arrogant, and set in his ways. All of which makes him an easy scapegoat.

Thats the other thing with Martz. He never inherited a highly regarded QB. Did you even know who these guys were...

1998, he helped develop Trent Green as Washington QB coach. Green was an 8th round draft pick who was a no name backup for 6 or 7 years previous.

1999, Kurt Warner. You all know the deal.

2002, Marc Bulger. Cut by 2 teams, third string in 2001 & 2002.

...until Martz got a hold of them?

Lions had Jon Kitna, and 49ers had the immortal JT O'Sullivan (who he brought with him from Detroit) & Shaun Hill.

With that track record of turning shit into gold, you mean to tell me nobody will even hire this guy as a QB coach?

Ya, well, NFL Network is where legends go to end their careers... apparently? lol. Idk, but having an offensive mastermind in the discussion room is alright, I suppose. If no one wants to give him a chance, it's their loss.

Martz should be hired, as a head coach he gets loopy with the clock and challeneges, but he makes your offensive better even with scrub talent

Martz to Cincy as an OC would be a good fit IMO. They don't have a start RB but they do have a great QB and a few good WR's.
