Vikings are trying to trade Tarvaris Jackson

"The Vikings have called teams to see what they would be willing to offer in exchange for backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, according to a league source.

The Vikings have four quarterbacks on their roster, which must be trimmed to 53 players by Saturday. Coach Brad Childress said recently the team possibly could keep four quarterbacks, but it seems more likely that it will trade or release one.

Jackson has been the subject of trade rumors since Brett Favre arrived. However, it remains unclear which direction the Vikings will go if they are unable to trade Jackson.

Jackson, who started 20 games in his first three seasons with the team, admitted he feels a sense of uncertainty about his situation, but he said he is focused on preparing for Friday's preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys.

"You never know with this business, period," he said. "I just take it as it is. Whatever happens, happens. I can't control it. I just try and get better, that's it. I can't worry about [whether he gets traded or released]. I'm not worried about it because I can't control it. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen whether I worry or not."

Childress said Favre will not play Friday (teams typically rest their starters for the final preseason game) so that means Jackson, Sage Rosenfels and John David Booty will split playing time."

The Eagles should trade AJ Feely for him.

Then Trade Kolb away for Leftwich and run an offense with 4 QBs

Not surprising at all. He's going to get cut if not traded.

I don't think they cut him. He has SOME trade value. Whether it's just a 5th round pick or something, they'll come up with some kind of deal rather than cutting him.

The number three quarterback is Patrick Ramsey, and I don't want him near the field this season.

I rather have Vince than Tarvaris though.

He sucks, why would anyone give up any pick for him? Vince sucks and you see the titans were unsuccessful in trying to trade him.

New England should trade for him. Can't be any worse than Andrew Walter

Vince Young = 3rd overall pick
                  Tarvaris = 2nd rounder

Thus his contract is a hell of a lot easier to move than VY's.

I'm surprised more NFL teams don't have interest in the 4th best backup QB in the league.

                      Denver trades B.Marshall
                      Minnesota trades 2nd Round + T.Jackson

Or maybe somebody like the Rams/Panthers could use him as their primary backup.

I can see Tarvaris Jackson going to the Jaguars. They were looking at Tyler Thigpen but with the injury to Matt Cassel he won't be going anywhere. I think Tarvaris can be a very good backup and possibly be traded for a 5th-6th round pick.

Croyle is ahead of Thigpen on the D/C . I was suprised , thought he showed some decent signs last year .

Thigpen was way better than Croyle, even on his worst days. And IMO he improved quite a bit by the end of the year. I would actually prefer Thigpen to Cassel.
