Has Matt Ryan Been "Crowned" Too Early?

Ryan is very good but let's not act like Flacco isn't at least close to him. Flacco did take his team to the AFC Title game. I don't want to hear any Atlanta fans saying 'well if Ryan had that defense' either. Fact is he doesnt and the NFC was a lot easier to get through than the AFC last season.Comment

So u gotta come with a better argument than that
But honestly, what has Matt Ryan done that Joe Flacco hasn't? They both had very impressive regular seasons and not-so-impressive post-seasons (other than the fact that Flacco won two and Ryan none). Both took over teams that need revamped offenses and delivered. So, why Ryan over Flacco?

You say you are a "believer" after what Ryan did today but Flacco's 300 yard, 3 TD performance didn't make you a believer in what he can do too?
Your ass must still be sore from the raping Flacco and Co. gave the Dolphins twice last year.
I don't play the Flacco vs. Ryan stuff because they are both good. I lol @ the people who act like Flacco is some scrub though. He did do something Ryan didn't last year, you know, win in the playoffs.

lol wut
Matt Ryan is a great young QB and has star written all over him. That's all that has ever been said. He's not the best QB in the league or even the best young QB at this point. Just a very good QB who has the drive and makeup to eventually become a great QB.Last edited by NAHSTE; 09-13-2009, 09:19 PM.Comment

I just looked it up.
Flacco was 9 for 23 in that game.
Not sure what that poster was talking about.Comment

I think Flacco is a better QB than Ryan and I was definitely more impressed with him last year than I was with Ryan.Comment

Joe Flacco did jack shit for his team in the play offs, he managed to not completely get exposed and blow it the first playoff games and then finally showed just how much that Defense carried the team last season.
Today you gotta give him props for how he performed, of course it is against the Chiefs... but still.Comment

This is really the most stupid thing I have read in a while. I know we all have our opinions but this is just ridicules. Matt Ryan threw for 3500+ yards on a crappy team projected to finish last in the league while Joe Flacco did not throw for 3000 yards on a Super Bowl contending team. Although Joe Flacco looked far better than Matt Ryan today in my opinion I still think Matt Ryan is the next superstar QB in the league!
Joe Flacco didn't throw for 3,000... oh, God forbid he fall only less than 30 yards short of fucking 3,000. And Matt Ryan did not throw for 3,500+. Get that "+" the fuck out of here. He threw for 3,440. You tried to pull an inflate/deflate move and failed.
And the Ravens were Super Bowl contenders last year? Really? After going 5-11 in one of their worst years in their existence, surrendering a win to the 1-15 Dolphins, and firing Brian Billick? They were Super Bowl contenders?

With apologies to Senser, this. Not sure why it has to be one or the other. Both look like they will have good careers and win a lot of games. I think Ryan is a bit more of a Tom Brady cerebral type whereas Flacco has the great arm and a lot of moxie. Two different QBs but both very good at what they do and they could very well end up the two great QBs of their generation.

How is what I said the stupidest thing you've ever read in a while? What you just said may be borderline retarded.

My take is that Matt Ryan was seen as an integral part of Atlanta's turnaround, whereas Flacco was more of 'on the periphery' of Baltimore's success. If this is correct or not, I don't really know, but I think that is the difference in perception of the two QBs. I think Flacco is a lot like Roethlisberger in that he can make plays at key times, even if he isn't the best statistical QB.Comment
