Chris Collinsworth makes me want to watch more football on NBC

Gone is the idiocy of John Madden, in is the long overdue goodness that is Chris Collinsworth.

He is entertaining, intelligent and brutally honest. During the Chicago/GB game, he had anecdotes about random players. He had stats at the tips of his fingers. And he had harsh words for the refs on that phantom Illegal contact penalty on Hester.

I love it. He makes me not want to switch the channel, even if the game is totally out of hand. He's that good.

Oh, and he's a Gator. So that's a bonus.

Cris collinsworth may watch more game film than any other analyst on any channel. He's got a lil room in his house dedicated for it..

I disagree with you calling John Madden an idiot. Some are better than others but announcers are a dime a dozen. I really dont care what they say or how they say it- unless they are reeaally unprofessional or amateur. But sports is more liberal a medium and you dont have to be a star to do it.

I respect people like madden, Corso, and Holtz because they have earned the time to have stupid fun on tv and get paid for it.

Madden's "antics" were overplayed. He rarely went into gimmick mode until games were out of hand, something he did on purpose to hold viewers from turning the game off.

Madden was the most insightful, most well prepared, and flat out best analyst ever. Any sport. Bar none. I cant imagine the Michaels/Madden team ever being topped.

Collinswoth is very good, but says things that are waaaay off base sometimes.

A guy to keep an eye on is Trent Green. Very smooth, very insightful. He did Rams preseason games this year and is working for FOX.

Yeah, Collinsworth impressed me during the GB v. Chi game. He seemed as if he knew what he was talking about unlike Madden. don't get me wrong, Madden was a great announcer, yet he was getting old and it seemed as if he was stuck in the past.

I thought I hated Collinsworth until I gave him a chance on Sunday. When he spoke it was like the heaven's opened. Unreal.

100% agree. I was completely sold on him Sunday night. Great analysis and he was very entertaining.
