    Jags will consider drafting Tebow

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars lost 17,000 season-ticket holders after last season, a staggering number that could lead to blackouts for every home game in 2009.

Most blamed the sluggish economy. Some pointed to the slumping team. Either way, team owner Wayne Weaver has to find a way to get them back.

    How about Tim Tebow?
Weaver told The Associated Press this week that drafting Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner who grew up in Jacksonville and has top-ranked Florida seeking its third national championship in four seasons, is something he will consider next year.

Think LeBron James in Cleveland. James, from Akron, Ohio, turned the foundering NBA franchise into an Eastern Conference power and made the Cavaliers the hottest ticket in town.

"Star power is incredible, and Tebow is an iconic figure," Weaver said, noting that Brett Favre's arrival in Minnesota prompted about 7,000 season-ticket sales. "That's very compelling. He clearly is an outstanding football player and would be an asset to any football organization.".....

Thats the main reason they said they would do it. They compared it to lebron in cleavland and derrick rose in chicago lol

            Matt Jones 2.0?

I actually think Tebow would do just as well as Garrard.

its no big deal really. teams usually draft players that played college in the State or have some regional connection. not always, but it consistantly happens .

and I am willing to believe the knock on Tebow transitioning to the pros. But it still remains to be seen and as of right now, i think he would do a great deal better than Lienhart at this point.

Because he's played so many snaps in the NFL already, right?

Belicheck may even take him, since he and Meyer have a great relationship.

Man, I hope Tebow goes on to NFL greatness, just to shut a whole bunch of people up.

Yea, but until he does that...we won't shut up. Tebow will be average at best in the NFL. Mark my words.

None of them have won rings with the team and aside from Leftwich coming off the bench for the Steelers, there isn't a strong case for any who would win a Super Bowl...

David Garrard: Best performance being the season where he went with the team in the playoffs and knocked off Pittsburgh going away.

Leftwich: Got ran out after the team fell out of love with him... shitty move.

                      Cleo Lemon: Who?

Quinn Gray: One of the tougher bastards I've seen play for JAX but that didn't translate to wins.

That being said, I hope Tebow does get a shot in the NFL...an added plus of him being on my favorite team would be just be gravy.

I too hope Tebow becomes a great NFL QB. I think he has the determination to become great.

Plus, If the Jags get him. Watching Peyton play 2 times every season will help him tons ;)
